Requiem is definately a good movie, but perhaps a bit overhyped IMO. Good camera and some interesting editing make something you should watch on mushrooms, for sure that's a for sure. ;)

Overhyped? Dude, I never even seen a commercial for this movie. As for the 'shrooms...well. I don't do drugs anymore, mmmk? :p

I think just getting blasted drunk will be enough for me. :)

NEVER SEE THIS ING MOVIE

everyone was like, oh yeah you have to c this movie
but they wouldn't tell me a thing about it...

let's just say a friend and myself were planning to have a rather good night full of all kinds of crazy festivities...

so we're like "ok let's watch a movie...why not requiem for a dream...everyone says it's good"

we sat there throughout the entire movie with our jaws dropped...
and needless to say, in order to be in a good mood and not traumitized for the rest of the night/week/month/year, we had to sit there for an hour, talk it over, call our mothers, tell them we loved them, and play extreme amounts of very upbeat house music in order to get back to normal....

OH YEAH, did i mention we saw the edited version???

granted, it was EXTREMELY well made...very good in that sense...
and it had a very good plot...good story...

but it was SO HORRIBLE!!!
SO SHOCKING!
i would have been much better off had i not seen it
...trainspotting hit me hard enough
ARGH
*end rant*

^life ain't a bowl of cherries, you know?

whatever....it's a movie with amazing direction, spectacular narrative, great acting, perfect music and beautiful cinematography. maybe a little pretentious, but overall it's pretty damn good. end of...

but it's not for the weak-hearted, although there are movies much more crude and shocking than this. if you have any balls and are interested in film as the 6th fine art, then definitely see it.

good taste! I'm yet to see all the Almodóvar movies though :(

Yesterday I was watching Once Upon A Time In America and while it was surely a trip I've still had mixed feelings about it.

Anyway here's my list

Cinema Paradiso
Amelie
Forrest Gump
Shindler's List
Requiem For A Dream
12 Monkeys
Fight Club
Midnight Cowboy
Taxi Driver
Pulp Fiction
Mulholland Drive
The Godfather 1-3
Goodfellas
Casino

I guess I could watch those films on and on.

thanks, you reminded me of some pretty good movies as well. I should've definitely put Amelie and Mulholland's Drive up in my list too. All of those are great movies, but i'm not a fan of Spielberg and Shindler's that much (even if he IS the Tiesto of directors :p )
monoxide
i'll mention 3 of the best, tho i have million of them:

ELZE IS GILIJOS
MALENA
STORM AND SORROW
