yea yea ok. fine.this is stupid. everyone has their own experiences. it's all elastic. can't go 1,2,3 this is what's gonna happen if u do x,y,z. why not write a book on "dating for idiots" then!? haahaha!
hey, btw, nut ~ what's that in your sig?!!? We're a generation of men raised by women... I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need... hahahaha! mmmm.... :whip: |
The line in my sig is from the movie Fight Club. Greatest movie ever! (well at least my favourite :p). It's a message to all the men out there to stop following trends and thinking with their dicks, and remember what they are. The whole dialogue is:
| quote: | "I don't know my dad. I mean, I know him, but he left when I was like six years old. Married this woman, had more kids. He did this like every six years. Goes to a new city and starts a new family."
"He was setting franchises. My dad never went to college, so it was really important that I'd go."
"Sounds familiar."
"So I graduate, called him long distance and asked: "Dad, now what?", he says "Get a job"."
"Same here."
"When I turned twenty five, my yearly call again "Dad, now what?", he says "I don't know, get married!""
"I can't get married, I'm a thirty-year-old boy!"
"We're a generation of men raised by women. I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need." |
Joe summed up my position pretty well w/r/t your first paragraph. The only thing I have to add is that people who possess empathy and critical thinking skills will be able to determine (to a limited extent) what happens if they do x, y, and z. Of course you're right in that there is no formula for a perfect relationship - if there was, we would simply be automatons. However, there are certain "dos and don'ts" that have been proven to work in almost all cases, and it stems from what Joe was saying about taking a dominant but still caring position.
Again, I'm not trying to put you down; I just think that discussions of fate should be separated from discussions of human relations and left to those who truly believe in it. |

>> mmm....i think ur confusing urself!
it's a combination of both - destiny and fate ..and coincidences/ synchronicities! :) everyone has their own role/lines in this script called life!
hehe .. man, i'm just messing with you. don't get all serious. it's all open to a debate.
soo, hey, when's ur manual on 'Dating For Idiots' coming out? :happy2: |

Was that for me or Dan? The original was addressed to me, so I wasn't sure. Anyway, there are lots of books on this, some suck, some make sense, I'm sure a quick search on google or amazon will turn up many results. ;)
If you choose to view as destiny and fate that's fine, but that's just one person's interpretation. Some (like me) tend to view it as very specific chains of action and reaction. I prefer to think that, for the most part, I have control over my own life.
That of course doesn't mean to say I spend 10 minutes thinking about everything I say or do before I do it - just means that, in my moments of reflection, I take a rational approach rather than a "faith"-based one. |

I'm rather surprised that there ARE books on dating and social interaction, kinda sad if you think about it that you'd be picking up a very important life skill from a book :P It's exactly why there's a difference in book smarts and street smarts, where book smarts is the theory behind what "could" work, and street smarts being what "does" work. If I were you I'd just get some first hand experience and then you'll know what works and what doesn't for you, it's the only way to go if you want to actually get somewhere :P

Well, after reading maybe 10% of this whole thing, running into some of drgoodvibe's posts (listen to the advice of the vise man!), and some really confusing posts, I'm just gonna reply to this post (not enough time to reply to all the previous ones, since someone out here already addresses them or will do so sooner or later).
Anyway, you better believe it that there ARE books on social interaction and dating, because 99% of men out there don't even understand the opposite sex. Hell, this whole thread started with a post by a "confused" male. Now, of course, there are so many crap books that teach what "could" work, and don't necessarily work in real world, since the authors themselves didn't get the complete understanding of female nature. Now, there are these rare books written by the people who actually understand women, and understand themselves too, and those are much better than both these "could work" books and the street smarts. Why? Because if you actually go out and try out every single thing and method you think of or find out works, and you actually get it going, you still might not know WHY it works and WHY it doesn't, the whole psychology behind it, etc.
Basically, don't be ignorant to everything books have to offer you, because you might not find out about some things in any other way... not everyone you meet in your life can pass on that knowledge to you.
And just rememeber this -> People are like shadows. Chase your shadow and it will flee; turn your back on it and it will follow you. |
