Dude you should keep stupid comments in which you know nothing about and especially broad generalizations like that to youreslf. I mean so even blonde haired kid from the Netherlands wants to be Armin, I mean true enough people are caught in dreams and there a large amount of peole that do want to be Tupac but most is absolutley ridiculous. Wiggers thas real great I mean God dude stop getting your facts from BET and MTV, I must apologize Im so dumbfounded Im not presenting my argument in a better way but man that was just a stupid comment that you shouldve never said. This Thread is stupid it, it always ends in the same over and over never fails. Someone please close this hole...:nervous:

:stongue: i can't count how many times ppl mentioned underground rap
Cobalt
My problem with mainstream rap isn't that I think no talent goes into it. I mean, very little does, but just as much goes into the mainstream electronica crap across Europe. My problem is the culture it has helped to create, a massive ego trip for countless teenagers looking for something to give them an identity, who find themselves caught in the bling-bling/pimping stereotypical mold as a measure of social acceptance. No one who is defending rap can seriously contend that mainstream electronica does anything of the same sort. Eurotrance is, compared to the culture of hip-hop, utterly harmless. What's worse is that white-collar corporate overlords profit off of the dissemination of the mainstream "hoes, violence, masculinity" message.

I do, on the other hand, have respect for underground hip-hop, much of which is rather deep and profound on a lyrical level, though not necessarily on a musical one.

So my main complaint with rap isn't the musical or lyrical value, since most people recognize that the mainstream variant has neither, but with the sad culture of 'wiggers' and 'gangstas' it has spawned, spreading ideas I'm unfriendly to in the process.

I'll put this as simply as I can. Rap is all about the message in the lyrics and how artistically and cleverly this message is presented, like rhyming. Yes its true the rap that is on the radio and TV have lyrics about wealth and women. This is the rap you hear.

However there exists a world of rap that none of you have heard. This is called underground rap. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the term underground. In underground rap, these rappers portray their views, feelings, opinions, and criticisms on society or any number of real things people face on a daily basis.

In short:

Rap you hear = commercial = pimps and hoes
Rap you dont hear = underground = artistic meaning

Which is the same thing as:

Trance you hear = commercial = cheese
Trance you dont hear = underground = quality

I dont much care for what they're rapping about. Commercial or underground, rapping is rapping. If I listen to trance for certain reasons, and those reasons dont apply to rap, then i'm not going to listen to rap. No rap-bashing here, just my opinion that rap=bad because the things I like about trance dont apply to rap. The same can be said about many other genres of music, but then the thread title is 'LMAO @ rap', not 'LMAO @ everything except trance'.

Im sorry but I cant agree, the kind of people you talk about are the minority around here and I live in Houston, Tx where there approx 4 million people and a large % of it is either black or mexican, and on top of that its in the South where ignorant behavior is notorious, but Im sorry there are more I guess you could say normal black people than there are gangster impersonators. Also I apologize for being so strong in my post earlier, but ure comments just struck pretty hard, especially since Im black as you may have already been able to tell, also you do sound like a racist, but also I can agree with you on certain aspects because I hate that kind of stuff as well, when black people act like rap videos, a lot of the problems with the whole rap thing is that people confuse that with our culture. No where is it that you have to be ghetto to be black and I wish a lot of black teenagers would get that through their skulls. I mean I could go deeper but more or less most people would not understand but I hope you guys get the idea.
