Just wondering...
Hypothetically... how much money would a well known DJ playing a 2 hour set make?? I have no idea... |

it really depends on where they are playing a lot of the time.
some DJs have fixed rates, some do it place by place...if they are tight with the people running the event, they might cut them a break; if it is a tiny venue, or a huge venue... things like that
you could get $20,000 one place and $5,000 elsewhere |

Depends on the guy, some can haul in truckloads, others enough to cover the gas.
But if the DJ is just there for the money, they shouldn't be there in the first place. |

Also, to keep in mind: Talking about Tiesto compared to a local Dj do not compare at all! To reach the status of Tiesto didnt happen in one night.

Much agreed! Trance is for enjoyment as well as other things. If one is for the money, I think they are in the wrong genre of music... :nervous: |

probably not as much as you think. Obv the BIG BIG names ie Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Sasha, and prob Tiesto can charge alot but many of the smaller djs just don't have the same swing ie. Marco V, J00f, Matt Hardwick etc.
If there's a 2,000 capacity club each paying £10 ($15) to enter thats £20,000 a night. The majority of that will go on running the club, paying staff, rent etc (as drinks don't account for that much) so id reckon a couple of between £2-5,000 for the headline dj.
Abd then it depends on the dj and importantly where they are playing. A long established night may pay alot less than a new night just starting out. |

I heard somewhere that oakey's going rate was 20 grand a gig on average.
that means if he were to do 50 gigs in a year hed make a cool million? not to mention remixes and productions for people like madonna that also brings food on the table...on gold plates with diamond stuffing and platinum silverware being driven to you by limo.
However most other DJs that aren't headliners or just run-of-the-mill make enough money to live where they are and buy more records... |
