Stupid things ppl have told you about trance

Yeah....post all funny things you have heard from ppl that dont really know trance.......
I think the funniest i have heard is
"You cant dance to this music!"
(That was when i played system F - exhale BTW)
I didnt know really what to respond to such stupidity....
and i went like:
- Well you tell the 30.000 ppl that probably danced to this last week

Happened about a month ago when my friend asked me if I had heard some new punk rock cd. I told him no I don't really listen to punk anymore. So he asked me what I was listening to and I told him trance his exact words:
"Man I can't believe you listen to trendy trance"
Trendy!?!?! other parts of the world yes but in the USA hmmmmm nope |

| My mum affectionally refers to Trance as my "dumph dumph" music. And yeah, people who say it's all noise and it all sounds the same, because they're used to their music lasting 3 minutes and having a chorus you can sing along to. |

| Yeah the problem is that ppl need to sit down and just listen to it...open minded....and just listen to each little sample in the track and how well all the sounds and beeps and drums work together as a team...just like in classic music.... |

i heard some pretty dumb last night
was talking to my girl online and she said "no offense or anything, but most trance sucks"
i told her i gotta smack her when i see her on friday :P
she also said that most of the trance i listen to is influenced by pop
sigh american women :( |

| Most of my friends listen to some type of electronic music though I find most of them have become House music snobs ....Don't get me wrong I enjoy good house tunes but I don't get the "rise" I get outta Trance...Once In awhile they'll ask me when am I going to stop listening to the candy kid music grrrrrrrrrrr pisses me off.....but at least when we go out it's to a club that spins good house and once in while has a good trance/tech D.J. |

Coming from the city of house, a LOT of people hate trance, and won't even listen to it. They bash it without listening to it.
This is just from my local promoter's board:
"i think all that trance music and pill popping has not only destroyed your taste in music, it destroyed you sense of humor."
"Tiesto is cheezier than cheeze, just like progressive. Trance sucks!"
"u people take this trance @!#$ too seriously"

When attending high-school my wannabe-openminded music-teacher was determined to play to us bits of all the major genres of music and also "techno" which was represented by 2 Unlimiteds "Twilight Zone". After the initial attacks by fellow students "They don't even write their own music" etc. I managed to inhale as much air so that I could studder "that's NOT techno". Unfortunatly "Unlimited had a sample in one of their other songs going "techno techno techno", which sort of ended the discussion: "They wouldn't say that if it weren't techno!" and how do you respond to that kind of arguing?
Other than that I've heard many people say: "It's just some computer-programmer who's programmed a computer to do the sounds. It's not real musicians". Although these kind of arguments can be countered I generally find that no-one wants to have their opinion challenged at this subject. Perhaps because electronica is something that isn't understand and following strict rules and then it's easier to dis it?!? |

people bother me so much... when will they realize that they have no taste in music whatsoever? |
