i have this friend who's a R&B, rap and pop junkie and i just hate it when he says stuff like
"trance isn't real music. i'll show you whats real music"
proceeds to put in some stupid R&B and rap tunes about pimpin hoes and gangstar bling bling in his car
"these songs are so repetitive. they all sound the same"
he constantly tries to convert me from tranceaddict to his . keeps sending me tunes that i don't care about but hey i'm usually open minded about everything so i gave it a shot. as it turns out of the 10 songs or so he hooked me up with, i only managed to like 1. whereas my first encouter with trance, i loved every single tune i heard that day. system f, robert miles, ayla. it left such a deep impression on me i still remember exactly what it was like that sunny afternoon. |

You guys are so right... people are stupid when they say bad things about trance, trance RULES!
I recently started exploring Hardhouse, 'cos I love anything with a hard and fast beat, but I don't like it nearly as much as I do trance. Hardhouse is very crude and rough, whereas trance is stylish, beautiful, and melodic -- and certainly "hits that switch." Nothing can compare with the beauty of trance, period. |

remarks i get from asshooles that live around here:
they call it fluffy trance
that gets on my nerves...i want to decapitate these ppl nd feed them their own balls

my dads pretty openminded about music. he has dealt with me liking pop/hiphop/rock/everything in the past, he also deals with me liking trance now (ive been having an identity crisis for a while now, can u tell? hehe) anyways, lately, my dad has been telling me that trance is a very nice music, songs have nice melody to them, and they dont have ppl screaming (like in rock), whining about love (pop), or swearing every other word (hip hop), BUT, trance still cant be compared to real music, such as classical and instrumental, b/c it has an electronic sound, not man produced like with a violin for example.
a few days ago, my friend and i were driving in my car and i felt like a lil castles in the sky, after a couple of minutes, my friend turns to me and goes, 'this is the cheesies techno song ive ever hear' :eek: |

well the stupidest things I hear is from some of my close buddies
mostly cause I see them most often offcourse
and sometimes from other morons that are present in the city :)
well nothing comes to mind except that few days ago me and my other buddy were going out in the evening, and while ago he started listening to some rap and similar , and he knows I like "techno" as he reffers to it (which I hate when people say like that)
so he says that we gonna listen "techno" on our way to the place and rap and other crap on the way back
and then he proceeds to put on his so called techno disk which is acctualy full of some eurodance ... not even close to trance, not to mention real techno
and about 6 months ago I gave him ITWT 004 from Johan Gielen, for which he said that there is one good track on it :( :( :( sad sad sad
what can I tell you, I almost fainted !
I want to ask to give me the disk back cause he doesnt deserve it :whip:
and my other friend who goes with me to the raves also still quite often refers to electronic music as "techno"
I mean he should at least know better |

i hate when i'm listening to trance/techno during they day, and someone says to me: "You listen to this during the DAY??? I can only listen to this at night!"

Ohhh man... im enjoying this thread.
I've heard some dumb things said about trance. I've had my large share of idiots going to me, "Uhhhhh what is this gino you listen to..." For those idiots, I tend to say something along the lines of:
"PLEASE STOP ASSOCIATING MY FAV. MUSIC WITH S WHO SLICK BACK THEIR HAIR & RACE -BOX'D RICED-UP HONDA CIVICS!!!" <------- Alotta people laugh at that one! (note: I don't hate "ginos", i just think they're funny to point & laugh at... and besides- people have to learn not to call it "gino music")
A girl working w/me on a Computer science project somehow got into talking about music.. i told her i like listening to trance, and she said, "Trance is like... video game music"... WTF??? I told her "LoL...video game music?!? Ya dont know what trance is!" (bah...the biatch copied off some other group and got us both zeros on that project too.)
I had some guy who only listens to rock start telling me that he "hates trance"... god these people can be the worst to thwart. 9/10 times i'll tell them that "they dont know what real trance is, so DON'T judge it." However this guy was plain ignorant & insisted he knew all about trance, & hated it anyways. Fact is, he didn't know dick about it. He was an allright guy, nothing against him- but that ignorance pissed me off. |

Well...its quite clear that we all have met alot of ignorant ppl out there and its quite clear that im not the only one that really gets pissed by it.....Puh....feels nice :p |

Some of my friends are hardcore metal heads ( where the guy is just pounding the guitar and screaming into the mic, utter imo) and when he comes over and hears me playing trance he goes:
"man, I could fall asleep to this music, it's so boring"
I wanted to take his deathmetal CDs and snap them over his head.
I also noticed girls are a lot more open minded about trance, out of 5 close female friends i have exposed to trance 3 like it enough to be considered trance addicts. And one is a hardcore tranceaddict (doesnt post on messageboards much, but reads them, Hi kate!) who is dying to see Tiesto. But with guy friends that I have exposed to trance it has been a disaster. out of about 9-10 close guy friends i have only one could be considered a hardcore tranceaddict, and one other that will listen to it if i send him songs, but doesn't like it enough to go searching himself ect.
I don't know, I guess a lot of guys around here consider it "" music because it doesn't have screaming guitars and people ripping each other apart in mosh pits, so they don't want to be associated with that. Although I do think some guys secretely like trance, but thier "image" doesn't let them listen to it.
Btw, if you really want someone to like trance, get them high first, it DOES work pretty well =) |
