Again, it is not my intention to shut down the Guv. I like the Guv and plan on attending the April 8th party. In fact the reason I'm doing this is because I DO enjoy the Guv, I just want to make sure the next time I go back isn't like the last. This is by no means a radical move. Clubs are warned about overcrowding all the time before any action takes place and hopefully a warning here will sink in to the Guv mamagement and make them think twice about how many people the let in the next time.
For the people who think I should leave this alone and put a night of dancing in front of the safey of other people I'm not even going to dignify that position with a response. It doesn't deserve one. |
OK, I hear ya bout the over-crowding and I agree, but don't let this go too far. The City fat cats are waitin for a reason to shut down . Focus only on the overcrowding. Remember, that it only gets really overcrowded when it's a big name like Corsten/Digweed or Tiesto.
As for the security search....u guys need to chill on this one. They are doing their job. I was at the Guv on Saturday and I had no probs with security check. They even took my keychain and put it somewhere safe (with good reason--if outta my hands it cud of been used as a weapon). By comparison, your bouncers/security vs. those at a New York clubs (which is where I grew up) are cats. Be thankful you got them rather than a few dead bodies inside the event.
Try to negotiate with the guv and kool haus to fix this before going to the fire marshal and others? Try exhausting everything first. I don't remember anyone catching me as I walked out of the club to sign a petition about overcrowding. Has anyone done that yet?:eyes: |

There are so many things said in this response that are untrue!! You, a fellow partier should understand that being confined in a crowd is not FUN. I understand you have to put up w/ it.. to an extent. I don't think he's trying to screw anything up - I think he's trying to make things better and safer. Do you know how many people get hurt because it's way too overcrowded? For example - ferry corsten this past weekend I got whacked in the face by some juiceheads elbow because trying to get out of the club was next to impossible! I didn't even get a sorry or anything.. and I bet he didn't even realize he did it because A) he was messed up, or B)It was too crowded to even tell. We are not sardines here, we go to dance adn listen to the dj's that play the music we love but instead we go and are surrounded by caous. They would never shut the guv down due to overcrowdedness - they would shut it down for other reasons. I honestly don't think he will get far w/ the firemarshall thing but it's worth a try and it's about time someone complained instead of complaining to eachother on here all the time. When I first started going to guv it was NEVER as crowded or cracked out as it is now.. but thanks to all the losers that love to go because it's "cool" and "popular", a place where they can get messed up and listen to music they know nothing about, (ignorant stereotype -but true).. we, the people who go for legitamite reasons lose out on having the chance to appreciate our music. So I give the guy props for at least attempting to fix this problem. THANK YOU FOR ATTEMPTING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

i remember seeing Tiesto play for the first time at the Guv back in July 2000 to a club 3/4 full where only half the people inside knew who he was.. i didn't even know what he looked like before he got up on the decks..

Even after informing people that they would probably not get in. We are in the process of completing a door count and have over 500 fraudulent tickets unaccounted for, which in turn increases the volume.
The line-ups were unavoidable, we only allow so many people in the building at one time. Searching is also mandatory for each patron, this slows down the door but I think you’ll all agree that it is necessary for everyone’s safety. For these reasons we utilized the parking lot outside and offered complimentary music and entertainment for everyone.
I would like to personally apologize if you found your experience here on Sunday less than positive. Please except my invitation for you and a guest to attend a show or event of your choice over the next 3 months.

She was almost crushed to death and this I swear on my life almost suffocated and DIED. When she finally got through she was short on breath and I could tell was labouring. We walked further into the club without notice until finally while heading to Skybar inside the Drink she started to hyperventilate (sp?) REALLY heavily and was all red and crying. Apparently while trying to get into the Orange Room she was almost crushed to death by 4 bigger guys. I felt extremely bad that I wasn't able to help her there since I myself was being pushed away by others. So she started choking and at one point I got extremely scared and my friends were all freaked out. We were extremely lucky we got to Skybar in time or there is no doubt in my mind that she would have suffocated to death. After this ordeal, the rest of my night was not the same. I am fortunate to say that she managed to recover but I was totally no longer in the mood for partying and the rest of the evening being so packed everywhere in the club didn't help at all.
I have now come to the final conclusion that the owners of Guvernment have absoluately no regard for human lives whatsoever. That place is so overly packed with people there is no way in hell that place is abiding by the fire code. If a fire broke out in that place and they had to evacuate people would be trampled to death and there would be a huge tradgedy.
So anyways to end this off, that pretty much ruined my whole nite. I didn't manage to catch a whole lot of Armin's set and despite trying to get into it at sometime it was almost impossible with all the people everywhere. I spent most of the time dodging Conan the Barbarian and his friends cutting through the dance floor than being able to dance myself.
I really want to say this to a lot of you that no matter how good Guvernment is as a club (which it is from a technical standpoint) that place is run on pure greed. Every single time i go there it just seems to keep getting more packed and packed each time and I think this time it's really hit my limit. Armin could have played the best trance set I've heard in my life but with the way the crowd was moving in there that night as well as the unbearable HEAT (where the are the fans??) I could not take it any longer and alas left before 5am.
I HONESTLY believe that this WILL be my last time going to Guv for a very long time. I know dancing would have been a lot easier being with the big group of TA's but I kinda lost touch with you guys into the night and unfortunately was unable to spot Mr. Beacon Az. Anyhow I hope most of you guys had a lot better time than I did. I'm gonna take a Guv hiatus for a little while. I need to think about a couple of things for a bit.. I was very close to losing someone I really love last night and I think it's sort of changed my mindset.

sadly, i'm no longer with the girl i was with at the time of this incident .. i've been been back to the Guvernment since this incident, but i highly doubt that she has ..
if any of you have read thru the LoL1 review again, u might be astonished to see how angry TOTA actually got after that event.. here's the link:

i was at the guv on march 13th for ferry, everytime we go to the club my friend and i get searched to the extreeemez...
On this particular night they even made my friend take off his shoes not to mention the amount of times the bouncers grabbed our balls. i think there should definately be some sort of policy on this.

room2dance (i still dont know why did u get ur new nick) go to FM and tell him that system was rammed. i hope u will go! cause theres no way that i had more room to dance than at guv. no ing way. and theres search. u get ur balls touched once and ur bitching. . its FOR UR OWN SAFETY!

How is it "ing life?" People shouldn't try to change anything in their lives?
What exactly is your attachment to the Guv? Do you work for them? We're not bitching because the Guv is bringing in talent, we're bitching because they're bringing in twice the amount of people that the building can hold along with that talent. I wasn't at System but I highly doubt the place has EVER been THAT packed.

Emery: I remember reading the labour of love review a LONG time ago. fking brutal is all I can say to that.
Oddly enough I remember also saying to myself I would never go the GUV if it was going to be like that.
Now seeing as I've never actually been, and that they get some big name DJ's in there every few weeks, I don't think it being shutdown is what anyone really wants. Hell even when viva was packed in September at about 4am I thought it was too full to dance, and according to these stories about the GUV it's much much worse.
I hope things getting sorted out with the GUV before I turn 19 or else I won't be going there even for someone like Tiesto :mad: |
