No Guarantees, but I will try my hardest. Here's the preliminary info from the first call. It's def. going to be difficult, but where there's a will, there's a way. There are a couple of different options I'm looking into. I'll give more definite feedback when I find out more concrete info. The best option right now appears to set this up in a similar fashion to the recent free event that was held over the weekend in Flushing Meadows Park. Although with a beach, there may be some permits that need to be obtained. I wouldn't worry about obtaining power to supply lights and juice to the sound system. I work for Con Ed and I have access to generators. All we would need to do is buy gas. I'm working on finding out what can be done to prevent cops from shutting us down, hence my connects in the NYPD.;) I'll keep all informed. |
Yea, they gad to get a permit for the TFST bbq is the park too....where do u get one of those? |

Yes pretty much.....there will be no underage drinking there (within my sight ;) ).....cause myself and Vlad would be the ones responsible if the cops came or something happend. |
Also, they cant be drinking our beer. To play it safe, we might have to buy those colored bracelets that they put on you in the clubs. |

a beach party is something that might pose a problem for alot of people, since there are many factors in throwing an outdoor event which tfst has already considered and implemented...
1-sound permit
2-transportation - if its at a beach it'll be hard via public transportation...unless someone is willing to cab service loads of TAs
3-generator - got that covered...
4-probably get shut down since beaches are patrolled heavily and are seen as family/public places which are usually maintained by the city/town...especially in Long Island...
just thought i'd be of service to some helpful 411
but on the real i'd like to see this get organized.... |

Sound permit, depending on the area, it will either be someone easy or very difficult... secondly, Joey has those connections in the NYPD.
Transportation, this could pose a problem, maybe everyone could meet up as someones house whose location might be easy to get to by public transportation.
As for getting shut down, we sign a contract that states that we take responsibility for the mess and that we will clean it up. |

i dont know if it is even my place to post here but here i go.
Reading these post has me nostalgic for my past trips in italy where beache parties were frequently thown. The key as Vlad said is not to disturb the residents. What i have noticed is that if you position the speakers carefully in the middle of the beach the sound tends to go out twd the water. I remeber the music being loud on the beach but when i was back o the street it wasnt loud, you can hear it but it wasnt disturbing
secondly- if this is going to be during the day you will have an easier time w/ permits and such but have to deal w/ the familiys and kids.
thirdly- this genre of music gets no respect and unforunatly we are stereotyped. I was a the cancer benefit at peggy oneils last sat and iot was shut down PROMPTLY after a few breakers got in each others face and punches were thrown...they prob wont do another evnt like that again that was a 14 hr event and it went for 10..not to bad.
Best bet is to get all the legal straight and throw in a few sponsers to pay for electricty and crap (can be local bars, clubs)
hope to see this come tru

| Small update. It appears that I have to get in contact with the Parks department to get permits. The best route to take seems to be to say that this gathering is a party hosted by members of TranceAddict.com. Sort of like a free concert/beach party. The drinking permit will be the hardest to get because it's in such a public place and there's such a major variety of age, especially many underage people. Vlad's idea of the color bracelets is also the best route. As I get more info, I'll let you all know. |

one of the requirements to getting the sound permit is to get clearance from the district police department..thats what tfst had to do...so yes u have to go through the parks dept, second u gotta go through the police as well.. =) |

True. I'll handle the local police dept clearance issue. Thanks man. We just have to choose where it will be first. |

| Here's the biggest update yet. We need two permits which, quite honestly, aren't that hard to obtain. One is a sound permit issued by the NYPD, will work on this as soon as we figure out where we want it. The second permit is issued by the Parks dept, which again isn't that hard to obtain. I'm already working on this permit. I actually have an application grtting mailed to my house. What this permit involes is: a $25 non-refundable processing fee and 30 days advance notice. If there are over 100 people, we need to post what's called a "clean-up bond" which basically guarantees that we take responsibility for the clean-up after the event. THERE IS A DOWN SIDE, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PROHIBITED ON BEACHES AND PARKS. IF FOUND DURING THE PARTY, PERMITS BECOME NULL & VOID. We'll figure a way around this somehow I'm sure.;) Again, I'll keep you posted with further info as I get it. Have faith my fellow TA's, It looks good right now. |
