| guess im not clued up on america's finest dining places. although i thought it was more on the expensive side. $25 for a steak meal +all you cna eat buffet thing. maybe that was just florida and with it being full of disney tourists! hehe! :D |

well next time you go to America, strike up a conversation with someone at an art museum or at a more upscale restaurant, and I guarantee you he/she will know that England is in Europe, and not near Japan. every country has it’s morons...usually the hoi polloi that you find in McDonalds or Denny’s are the ones who slept through World Geography, and most likely don’t have a high school diploma (or a social security number for that matter)...that’s all I’m saying.
and I know a lot of blue-collar Americans act like morons and sit around watching soap operas and get wrapped up in their petty little lives, but we’re not all like that. |

yeah.. i dont know about florida but NY sizzlers arent that good.. i stopped ing with it years ago.. when i used to live in LA[like 8yrs ago] sizzlers there were pretty good.
and about Americans not having much general knowledge is true, i completely admit but it comes down to individuality dont you think ? England, Great Britain, United Kingdom.... shhiet, what is it ?? lol;) :D |

I see what he means though, I think America is one of the worst countries for "not-knowing-the-rest-of-the-world-exists" syndrome. Or rather, they know it exists but to them it's actually
1. America
2. Europe
3. Rest of world
But I think that's true of any country where the geography is similar...a lot of people in the UK & Ireland have no idea what's across the ocean....we don't share any borders and it's just a completly enclosed society to them, I think the same can be said of America.... but you can't tarnish everybody with the same brush and if anything, I'd say that American's in general are far better educated than the UK. |

I am going to be a bastard, but since this is an **ENGLISH** thread, my response in terms of why I created this thread will be filled with double-speak, euphuisms, and comments which you alone will have to interpret.
The general principle of me creating such a, what would seem nonrepresentational, thread is, more or less, for the strict purposes of ridiculing pompous mind-sets and narrow mind ness that has a stranglehold on this forum vis-à-vis the language threads. To be more unambiguous, it is also an examination and observation of how the people react and in the manner in which they do, i.e. the website as a whole. Consequently, I have grown to be much more emphatic about people’s negative reactions, and the Arabic thread is quite a perfect example. This thread I created was implying and mocking an exclusiveness which should not be present on any forum. But not only exclusiveness, but a haughtiness and almost insidious manner in which people conduct it by. This kind of behavior is not only partial to language threads, but moreover to knowledge of topics and to innocent misunderstandings which occur habitually. Heh, I find it astronomically ironic that the international community, here in this website of course, accuses Americans of being ignorant and arrogant where I find it to be much the inverse of that, i.e. the post by Nell. My comment to Nell would be that simple people only care about simple and unsophisticated things and considering the geographical area in which you were in I am not surprised and neither should you be quite frankly, that is unless you too are guilty of such ignorance. Nevertheless, not too get off topic with international affairs, this thread was much more of a mockery and protest of how the behavior of many terminates whatever forthcoming and open thoughts that may be displayed by others. Having said that, the taste of revulsion and grotesque will mostly likely never be vacant from here, but I know I will be.

Aside from the one or two times I've seen you ask for the correct word, and aside from looking at your location, I probably wouldn't notice that English isn't your native language. You speak, or at least write it, far more fluently than most english speaking people on these boards. So, uh... congratulations
