i think we americans are just hostile towards people of other descents coming to our country and speaking their own languages and bringing their culture here permanently, because we don't want to lose our identity as "Americans"....although i think we're past that. lol

i know when i lived in japan for 2 years in high school, i tried very hard to learn the language (conversational japanese), and i would try different foods and stuff like that, instead of just always eating on the military base and at McDonalds. i inherited the culture, because i was in that country. most americans (especially the marines) didn't though. they still went out to the bars and drank beer and started raising hell, like morons...

why don't they have their own section?

but as for the arabic topic, i agree

1% of the arabic population knows trance
0.5% of the arabic population likes trance
0.00000001 of the arabic population knows TA

2.) I come to TA to make a chatroom? Whats next? the world?...all I did was make an observation and people, including yourself, take offense.

Muauahhaha! Sorry Phalpax, everyone thinks Im you !

I said the polish thing. I found it funny when I posted (and still do) and if you remember correctly, I not only said Polish, but Sumerian.

That just seems odd to me. Most people I know think of themselves as hyphenated Americans and are very proud of their heritage. I mean this country has such a diverse cultural background, it's hard for me to pinpoint an American "culture" outside of fast food and MTV. I know a lot of people who identify themselves not simply as Americans, but as "half Irish" or "part Spanish" and the like. Who knows.

Also, I'd be hard-pressed to call that cultural hostility. I think that's just people in a strange environment holding on to some semblance of familiarity.
