Hmmm...I think the purpose for this thread was a tad bit rude...joking or not. No offense to you PHALPAX. I'm sure your intentions were not to stir up ...it just kind of happened. I would love to know how to speak various languages and I never think less of people that speak in their native language. Hell, I wish I could speak French. As stated by me once before and currently located in Orbax's signature...ignorance due to lack of exposure is one thing, but blatant idiocy just makes you stupid. It's one thing to not understand something because you have never been exposed to it, but it's another thing to choose to be ignorant. We are all from different countries and speak different languages. That should be a given and you would have to be a in idiot not to realize that. There are people from all walks of life that come onto TA and everyone should be welcomed. Anyone that bitches about threads in different languages are ignorant fools. It's ok to have forums where people speak a different language, but it's not ok for the people that are left out to start a thread of their own? I give props to anyone that has taken the time to learn English and attempts to communicate with those that English is their first language. I know firsthand how hard it is on some people to try to communicate when English is not their first language. How are those threads hurting you? Don't like it? Don't read it. It's really that simple. Amazing.
While we are on the subject...enough with the country bashing already. Until you have met every single person from every single country in the world then chill with all the in comments. We all have met people from various countries that we don't like. I'm positive that we all know people from our own damn countries that we don't like. Sounds cliche but this is the truth...there is good and bad everywhere. Just because some people come across as morons doesn't mean that every single person in that country is a moron. Thinking that way makes you just as bad as the people that you "hate". |

My point was that people who start threads deliberately to exclude people are not a positive addition to the forum. I also went on to say that many people here are guilty of that, not just an Arabic girl and nor was targeting language threads. I was just mocking an example. It is that kind of behavior that I am having a hard time tolerating and I wished people where a little more open, and I use that term generally and not directly at you trancebrat. I also went on a complex and a self-interpreting rant because I wanted to point out that the negativity is constant. I’m sure many mods can comment on the negativity that has plagued this forum and wished it changed as well. |

I should have put in my post that my post was a general statement to the people that intentionally try to be disrespectful and stir up . I don't think their threads are intended to exclude. The same could be said about "Local Scene" forums. I don't read every single thread posted so not being able to read theirs is no big deal. It would be interesting to be able to understand them, but that's only because I am intrigued by foreign languages. I like to think that I am open minded and that is maybe why I don't take offense to things like this. I'm not saying that you do. I'm just making a statement. ;) |

Believe me when I say you won't (lose your identity). My girlfriend's mother doesn't speak Portuguese, but my girlfriend and all her brothers do (as this is natural, one time it will happen), and I consider them as Brazilian as I am. The only difference is that they've been in contact with two different cultures and this is, most times, a very good thing, as they also bring aspects of their culture into ours, making our culture richer.
Think of all the American people who eat pizza, sushi, tacos... and this just one example :)

| well yeah just read a couple of the posts here, but in brazil i have freind that are both brazilian and english and we usually speak portuguise when were normaly talking (even the foreigners) and when were saying stupid that we dont want other peopler to hear we change to english, it works really well and we dont even plan it it just happens. It becomes sort of natural and sometimes we have conversations in english and portuguise at teh same time |
