ME. It's already been a week! Thinking back to 1 week ago to the hour, Dr. Trance is giving his intro to Lab 4, and I'm still front row waiting to see what the hell these guys are all about!
Let me start from the beginning though.
This is my 5th WEMF in a row. 3rd WEMF in a row making it out from the West Coast for this massive party. And am I ever glad I made it out this year. I don't even know realyl where to start. First i guess was, which set it off for me, was getting my good friend Andrew (Drewfactor) to come this year. I was really hoping for him to come, because he is just as much into trance and the scene as I am now. Many thanks Andrew, you made my weekend more than worthwhile!
Okay, Friday night, that's my social night, do alot of walking around, checking out, meeting tons of wikkid people, sooo many from the states! I can't believe the ing laws down there about raving, craziness!
So I'm gonna jump right ahead now to Saturday becaus eI was looking forward to this night for some time now. Dekoze, you still rock my world man! Loving how you still brining out The Saga, and loved the Marco V remix of Cafe Del Mar!
Highlight of the night.... already.... Dr. Trance and OS/2 10 year set! I was expecting a good set, but you 2 blew me the away. Every tune was just what everyone needed to hear and get everyone in the WEMF vibe! Ryan, Everyday, and Hear You Calling, they your trademark tunes my friend. I remember you playing Aurora at my first WEMF in 2000, and it was just as special then, as it is now! I don't know how to put your set into words guys, but amazing. I remember walking out with other tranceaddicts (sorry guys, drawing blanks on the names) and everyone was like "WTF just happened?" Where the hell did that come from. I'd really like a copy of that set if it's gonna be on sale at tripledecks. For those who missed it here is a little sample of the tracklist
Aurora - Hear You Calling
Agnelli & Nelson - Everyday (Lange remix)
DJ Tiesto - Sparkles (Airscape remix)
DJ Tiesto - Suburban Train
Members of Mayday - 10 in 01 - classic tune of WEMF 2001!!!!
Gouryella - Tenshi
Barthezz - On the Move
Gladiator song - Greeat opening track
Binary Finary - 1999
and many many more.... I had a whole tracklist after the set, it's gone now
Okay, Lab 4.... what the kinda evil spawn spit these guys out??
It was ing awesome. I remember seeing Adam at an old Nightmare party years ago, but it was nothing liek what I had witnessed on Satuday ngiht. EEEEEVVVVVVVIIIIIILLLLLLLLL. AWESOME!
You gotta see the I got on tape with these guys!
Johan Geilen. Nothing short of amazing too. I loved his track selection, a few could've gone without, but he had everyone at his fingertips the whole time. Don.... I really felt that nostalgia when you introduced him, talking about the LImelight party... I was one of the 10 people you speak of. Now look at him! Oh yeah, so what the remix was it he played of Marco V and Jen S Loops and Tings Relooped???? Breaks remix??? it was awesome!!!! That was the highlight of the set for me... that and Adagio for Strings!
Motorcycle.... I was expecting Gabriel and Dresden, VERY dissappointed when I saw only Jess come on... but I stuck it out and listened her whole set. very nice to see vocalists up there though.
SO yeah. JOHN 00 FLEMING! What can I say about this guy... again? Everytime he does nothing but impress me! He's got this prescence on stage that flows so well with his music. I can honestly say that it was John's set that had my feet moving the whole time! Such amazing tracne music this guy plays, a definite must see live act.
! How can I forget. SET OF THE WEEKEND..... DJ SCOT PROJECT!
ing Hard pounding Trance. The whole time I was right into everything this guy was throwing down. I've seen him b4 but didn't even compare to what I heard on Friday night. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THE 2ND LAST TRACK HE PLAYED!!!!!!!!!!! It had a female vocal screaming "HIGEHR". ing CHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNN. Someone Please! SCOT PROJECT, you are my ing hero man!
Okay for the rest of WEMF experience. Security... where the hell were you guys. So much less security than the past. I saw no problems so Props to Security.... letting everyone party! PEACE
Location, best loaction I've been to for WEMF so far. Although it will be difficult to top 2000 in the huge ing Hangar! This was soooo well organized this year! My vote for WEMF 2005!
The sound in the 4/4 main stage was PEAK! So crisp, so clear! Probably the best sound I've heard at WEMF so far... again... close to the sound from 2001 which was also amazing!
I have some AWESOME VIDEO FOOTAGE from this weekend. I am working on getting it out to everyone. It's 40 mins long (limited battery life), but captured some amazing stuff from Saturday night. I got some footage of Lab 4 GOING OFF, in slow motion... it looks en unreal!!
Well, this has been long, and ing great! I could go on forever again, but I will wait to post more. Thanks for great weekend to everyone I met! Mad props to Don and Ryan, Never disappoint me with your efforts at putting together such an event! |

Having only posted on TA a handful of times, I didnt sign the banner cuz I figured everyone would just be all like "Meh?" BUt since I know a good deal of you anyways from past adventures, I fugure I can still put forth my $0.02
First off...IF ANYONE ACCIDENTALLY PICKED UP MY CLAY BONG AND ADOPTED IT AS THEIR OWN CAN i PLEASE HAVE IT BACK?!?!?.
If you like it, I have no problems getting you one made for free, as it was a friend of mines mandiwork. I just happen to love the feel of it to smoke from, and it did me well on Saturday afternoon in my own VIP section (Read on)
Friday:
D:Fuse - Didnt see the hype, but also didnt walk out (except to smoke) so I guess I cant complain
Scot Project: Woomfed me. After being up since 6am this bout of booty shaking did me in...off to my tent to snooze, or so I thought
I stumbled upon 2 girls sitting in the field behind the back fence to the the UP n commers stage. Friend #1 was very obviously in the middle of a bad OD. Friend #2 was just sitting there stroking Friend #1's arm saying "It's ok, you're ok" I happen to find them sittling like this and politely tell Friend #2 that friend #1 is very much going to die on her if EMT's are called. Friend #2 decides that that is a very bad idea and starts spouting off paranoid rants about drugs and having their camp searched. I send Friend #2 off in search of Ice n water and towels while I set to work bringing Friend #1 back into reality. I managed to get her into a semi state of awareness, enough so that she knew she was going to feel like for sometime, and helped them back to her site, where sure enough, the OPP would have had a field day with some of the colorful characters present. Oh well, another sketchpad lives to see another day, she just better be freakin greatful.
I'm always doing this though. Even ran into the friend#2 from another rescure mission a few weeks back @ Cherry beach. She said her friend was taking it easy though and was very thanksful. Karma must be paying off on that one.
Around 5:30am started hacky sacking. Met the Yoda of the sack, who couldn't possibly be human and pull off some of the styles this guy had. Interesting Point of note, that circle ran until 12:30 in the afternoon. People would pop in, leave, come back, but at the end 3 of the original players were still lingering.
Spent Saturday afternoon chilling in the sun @ the Up n commers watching Graham get pinker and pinker by the minute. Was gonna come down with the gang to watch Schryer at 6pm until I heard that a special guest DJ was playing @ the Fruitopia stage...SOS. So since I missed his actuall set earlier I figured I'd pull up some land nice and close to camp and trip down memory lane of sorts. I walked up to the Fruitopia sample guy and asked him if I could score a whole can so I didn't have to keep getting out of the chair I borrowed from RJ's tent. He said no go, as the bosses were lurking about, but that all I had to do if I wanted a fill up was to get his attention and he'd cart one over. SWEET! VIP service and free bevvies whist groovin to some tunes. I had my bong quite close bye, and the sun was at that place in the sky where it just feels gooooood. I will say after listening to Mike's CD I wish I could have done both, but that'll just give me the incentive to go see him around town.
Campfired through this fabled 10 years of Trance set, but hopefully a copy will manage to surface, but made it to the 4/4 stage intime for
LAB-4
GIELEN
Smokebreak (Motorcycle: She's beautiful and all, but I could hear just fine outside)

Gawd Damn this is why I stopped dancing, just one of these sets would have had me stepping my ass off, but all in a row!!! I double stepped through all three sets, shirtless, dripping in sweat and not fawking caring (I still dont know how Rob can do a party in Long Sleeves. Liquid Dancers have always left me perplexed). It wasn't until about halfway through Double 0's set that my American newfound friend Sara (NO 'H') pointed out that I was wearing sandles and that my feet must be sore. Well, they werent until she mentioned it. I'm getting too old for 3-days.
Sunday morning free beer thanks to our 19 year old american friends. What I cant figure out is that they came by at like 10 on Saturday, told us to go nutz on the beer, all Sunday morning we did just that...then I hear that RJ bought like 40 beers of them for 20 bucks?!?! How much freaking alcomahol did these yanks think they'd get through? I also dont see any problem with beer and smores for Breakfast, cheers to that one Mike!
PS, for future reference to the 60+ people left waiting for the 2nd bus. THe trick to getting on first is to watch where all the off duty Security guys are waiting. All I heard was the big prick trying to play crowd control was say "You stand here" and that was enough for me to know where I wanted to be. Lost my Hacky sack in the rush though. Oh well, karma found me another.
Curled up in a ball and said "Fawk the lot of ya" on the busride home, until pulling in @ Nathan Phillips and inviting them all down to Cherry Beach for the Promise Party. Best way to come down from a wemf weekend, at least until the law arrived.
But that's a whole other story.... |

| WEMF was definatly a different experience from OM... The vibes are not closley related at all... I met a few of you TA's Sunday morning! Hi!!! I know a bunch of you were wondering why a weird group of people were hanging around, I was a little too spaced out at that point to voice reasons, and then that fight broke out by my car and I had to protect my baby, but the thought was there so Hi again everyone! |
