REVIEW: WEMF 2004 ... easily the best music weekend ever! (pg. 3)

WEMF was wicked.
to pop my WEMF cherry like that is unbelievable.
Friday night was...lacklustre to say the least. D:Fuse had the best set of the night from what I saw, but I showed up just after Liberator. It was pretty blah, and it was so hot, with nearly a negative(ie taking away from the zero vibe) Nobody danced all night, and I just wasnt digging it. Dissapointed that Optical, Ed Rush and Craze didnt make it. Craze was my most looked forward too set of Friday. (also possible is that I just missed him, but I heard he got stuck in weather in USA)
so ya. D:Fuse rocked Friday, everybody else kinda sucked. I went to back to TA camp around 5:30.
wake up in blazing 9 am heat on Saturday to get the real party started. Drinking @ 10. oh god. well Saturday was fun fun fun from start to finish. To everybody around TA camp, you guys rock, and there are too many to mention.
Saturday from 10-10 was the best time. All the people @ The up and commers stage rocked.
Somehow I passed out, lost a few hours and woke up to DAVE, so that was a good thing. After his set, I thought it would be the set of WEMF.(but no, it wasnt) I loved his tracks, and he had me dancing so hard.
the parody of 'the horrorist-One night in NYC' is so ing class that I cant believe it. I love that song.

Johan was lacking, but I saw him last week, so everything was a bit predictable. Then motorcycle..bleh. Boring, should have been before or after D:fuse yesterday for continuity.
then, THEN
'00'
woah.
ho lee crap.
so good.
Yes, its nearly an exact replica of his ASOT XXL set from a few weeks back, but man, to hear that, to be there and pound away on the dance floor to psy like that..unbelievable.
Im emotionally wasted right now, physically exhausted, a little sunburnt and have a flight back to Calgary that I will be waking up for in 12 hours. I hope I dont over sleep. it was a great weekend.
to all the new TAs I met, umm..most of you rock.
that oz. joint rocked hard.
being hammered all day ruled.
chilling in RJs gazebo was a blast.
hot dogs, smores, the whole kit and kaboodle, it was just a great weekend.
Im planning for next year already. TA renegade stage will go down. And we will have loads of shade.

big ups to destiny and anybody else who had a hand in this party.

WEMF this year was a GREAT SUCCESS. Great organization, great venue, great weather, minimal sketchiness (major plus).
Gonna keep it short-

Found TA site thanks to RJ. Thanks for saving us latecomers some tent space. Was really nervous about the campers when we got there, as there was some psycho yelling crazyness when we got there, but that was the last of that I experienced.

Finally made it to main stage at 2am, when Madame Zu went on. Venue was 1/2 empty, crowd seemed deader than a mortuary. D:fuse ended up playing longer than expected, since Scot Project's plane was delayed, but holy crap did he rock the house!!! Excellent tuneage, and he even was bongoing on the drum pad (like scumfrog) during a remix of THe Cure's latest tune. Scot Project went on, and started off 'lighter' than I was hoping for. His set didn't have the same energy I'd remembered at Dance Valley 2002, but still a decent set- Just not mindblowing. Returned to the camp site after that and hung out.

Sat. went to the new talent tent when it opened to the sweet tunes of Dennis Hahn. Despite technical problems at this stage, tunes that were pumping from here were top notch. Props to Tw1tch & Gamma on their 1st gig, and for bringing new meaning to 'on the spot repairing' for stretching across the DJ table to adjust the wiring. :p Schryer was awesome, as was Raaven's house set, and NuEra. More people showed up Sat. (what was with security making us walk ALL AROUND the property to go to our cars which were 50' away cuz 'more cars were gonna come in' and they didn't want us in traffic's way- in the mean time, NO cars came for hours, and by then, they realized how stupid it was, and the ban was lifted). Managed to catch some of Dave the Drummer, Lab 4 (wicked live set, great energy), Johan rocked the house, Motorcyle was ok, and then some of J00F. Spent some time hanging with Johan after the set which was nice, and he apologized for his management cancelling his gig in Israel the week I was there. :p Loved so many of the tunes he played, but he didn't play "Murder was the Bass", Dee. Then went to finally catch the 1st bit of sleep in 48 hrs. Beautiful weather on the ride home too.

Now, off to Cherry Beach for Kenny Glasgow.

I know he didn't play it, i hgeard it once on friday by i forget who, and twice on saturday, once by Schryer, and i forget who else, but I know it was before motorcycle came on.

Its strange that at 10:45 on a sunday night there are hardly any WEMF reviews at all? Where are all the WEMF kiddies at I wanna hear how the weekend was. Or was it really that bad that no one has a review to post. Except about J"00"F stealing the show?

RJ's gazebo owned! TA base camp, for sure!
Even came home with lotsa whip-its to spare.
Does anyone have my pipe? (graham would've left it somewhere)

Best sight of the weekend:
a seriously drunk as a skunk Del on Fri nite, doing his shake yo'ass dance on stage during Scot Project's set.

thanks to those that were there to support me during my set!

even though i got a really bad sun burn and ended up warping every record i played while the sun was out (yes some records survived my set. lol) and the needle skipped a bunch of times, i still had a lot of fun playing with that mixer and system! :D

thanks for having me out!! hopefully i'll be playing at wemf again in the future on the main stage. :)

thanks to Schryer and DJ Tygon for the cds!

it was great seeing some of you people that i haven't spoken to in so long and it was really nice meeting some new people aswell. it was also great to finally meet my sunday morning club246 radio buddy, dennis! :)

thanks to gamma / twitch for letting me use your needles! also, great set, i was surprised to know that it was your first time playing out!

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.....

what a great weeekend... the best wemf ive ever been to for sure. I came down with colonelcrisp and two of my other good friends, we parked on the opposite side of the road of the TA area in the white civic.

Friday night was really good. got in the main tent and caught mark olivers set. Very high energy. I was surprised. It seemed like he was closing for armin or something.. it was great. He was dropping tracks like out of the blue, naranja, pontape vs it just wont do :D.
colonelcrisp and my other friend, pat, were walking around dressed up like the atourney and the main character from fear and loathing in las vegas. It was a neat get up.

I found scot project to be a bit disapointing, his set was not very energetic. It was hard.. but i think it lacked substance.. but none the less it was great to see this guy live.

D-FUSE OMG what a a set!
when he dropped music is life (jono grant mix).. i went through the roof.!

saturday was a bit of a blur, but it was great going to the beach tanning it up for the day. but unfortunately passing out for a good 2 hours on the sand, missing alot of the new talent tent djs :whip: .

i also missed os/2's and dr trance's set. I heard that they plays some crazy tracks!. dave the drummer was great - awesome pounding hard set. Gielen, very similar set to his last set in toronto, but very good. JOOF, you stole the show i would say.. amazin amazing set
last second last dj to play in the main tent, i think it was Kynoxe. Very very nice set. kept me going till the end!

Overall a great time and great experience. Hope it just gets better from here on in :D
