LOL, I remember when this pic was taken.
Come on Kevin, Nat, and everyone else who has pics, post them up!!
As for the WEMF review: AWESOME!!
Thanks so much to SCHRYER for convincing me to come out. I was considering not going due to the fact that very little of the music interested me, but then I realized that this was an opprotunity to spend a weekend on Wasaga Beach with a bunch of great friends. I probably wouldn't have even enjoyed myself it it wasn't for you guys!!
I don't have much to say about the actual night (saturday) itself, but my highlights of WEMF were sitting in RJ's gazebo on Saturday afternoon, and Wasaga beach on Sunday.
Thanks again guys. As long as you guys keep going to WEMF, so will I. |

Along with the pictures above now a short review. I've never been to WEMF, but I've read the reviews of previous ones, the problems they had etc. This one looked very promising and organized. It was more of the experience and the big event outside of the normal routine that got me interested in this event. I'm not a huge fan of many of the acts there, just not my thing, I can listen for a bit and enjoy it, but pounding music all night long just doesn't do it for me. But all the people and the experience was exactly what I went for and exactly what I got. I didn't go Friday night, came up Saturday morning to spend the day in the sun and an evening of fun.
The new Talent tent was awesome, went over there first thing once we got there, Dennis, nice meeting you, solid set of trance, if I had known the needles needed more weight, I would have been up there with mine to lend you. :) Didn't stick around the whole time for all the people playing at the new talent tent. Went back to the campsite, which is where I was probably the most exicted about, hanging out with everyone. Plenty people to name, and the usual gang. Somewhere through out the evening we had an impromptu Progressive 30 minutes at the car, Graham and I wanted some prog. :) Bailed around 8am Sunday morning to get some sleep, I couldn't keep my head up any longer (fell asleep in the car for a bit).
Only complaint is they could have had some fans pumping some cold are from outside into the main rooms, they were HOT & sticky. Great soundsystem in both of them too!
Anyway, had a great time and to everyone I hung out with, I'm sure many more good times to come. I'm a huge fan of the day time fun! Saturday beach party? Count on it!
A memorable line, Ray coming outside the 4/4 room to get some air, walks over to a bunch of us sitting down ... "I've lost the plot! .. HAHAHAHAHAH"
edit: oh yah, and OS/2 & Dr. Trance? Walking to the 4/4 room to Members of Mayday - 10 in 1, awesome, haven't heard that tune for ages!! And Binary Finary - 1998 Gouryella remix ... Great hearing some of those classics. |

I was really happy the way things went for me @ WEMF this year...This was my fifth WEMF and by far the best one...
I left Toronto approx. 12 noon Friday with my friends Scott & his g/f Sam.When we got to Wasaga we went to visit a friend who rents out lil bungalows on 18th street and napped for a couple of hours in one of them.I had NO idea what to expect as far as line-ups and the wait.I was SO glad that it took us like 30 minutes to get processed and park the car.I've heard from various posts here that some of the security staff were gung-ho and a friend told me that one of them was gonna take away a tire iron because it can be a weapon.I was also surprised that I didn't see any security OR any OPP patrol the party...I guess that was a good thing too.
I didn't camp out this year because of the lack of trees for shade and I HATE sleeping in a hot tent so I got a motel room in Wasaga which was SO much better...
Anyway I was kinda surprised how empty the overflow parking was Friday and actually wondered if there was a low turn out for WEMF 2004 in general...just seemed to me that fewer people came.
When we walked around we went to the various rooms to get familiar and LOVED the fact that they were pretty big and the floors were great for dancing...So far I liked what I saw:)
As for Fri & Sat nites I mostly hung out in the 4-4 room and liked most of the DJs that spun.Friday nite from Mark Oliver to Kenny Glasgow and Sat nite from Deko-ze to "00" Fleming...Jelo was SO insane & D:fuse was pounding the out of my ears (thank GOD for ear plugs:eyespop: ) I was SO looking forward to Lab 4 & Johan Gielen and they were amazing..I've heard Lab 4 a few years ago but they were WAY better this time around...I'm pissed that I missed some of the DJs at the new talent because I needed my sleep BUT I was glad I got to hear my good friend DJ Mike Schryer put down some kick ass beats...
I am always impressed at the amount of Americans who drive for hours & even days to come to WEMF...I met several of them from Nabraska,Ohio, Pennsylvania & elsewhere.I always ask what the "scene" is like in their particular state/town & they are VERY jealous of our scene...You know its funny that THEY claim to be the "land of the free" but I know that WE are truly freer then they are for various reasons and we should make sure that WEMF & parties like it survive...
I took so many pix that my camera ran out of room so I have to thank Natalie for taking a pic of me & Johan for me...That guy is one class act:happy2: the pic is @ http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/bc/4105c52...fMncBBBmepg2K81 (hope it works)
If not try http://briefcase.yahoo.com/robb1138:
Only ty things that I saw was a brief fight in the camp ground and one guy who was passed out in the 4-4 room and the EMTs attending to him.I asked Del how he was and he told me that he was ok.I also heard that there was a fire and so I hope that it wasn't too serious...So all in all a great weekend :tongue2
I also wished that there were more food venders this year...I made the mistake of buying a hotdog sausage & onion rings. The sausage was ok BUT the onion rings we're disgusting.I tried to eat one ring but tossed the out:wtf:
The food was a miner thing so I would like to thank ALL the organizers for this year's WEMF and hope you can do it again next year
A very happy Robby G:gsmile: |

That it was great to hang out at the TOTA camp area & to sign the TA banner...It was great hangin out @ Dragonfly's camp & to meet Ian & Kevin & his g/f Don and all the others that are TOO many to mention here...
I also wanna say that the Americans we're showin us up as far as dancing liquid style.I met a TJ from Buffalo who ing kicked up a storm with his moves.Even my pal ALF was in awe:eyespop: .I was also SO happy to see my friend Cooper showin his stuff. He doesn't come to many parties & so I was so glad to see him @ WEMF this year...lots of talented dancers & I was glad to have partied with lots of them.
I think thats all I have to say about WEMF now:stongue:
