Can't believe nobody has started a thread about this yet!!! What's going on people aren't we in Canada - this is OUR GAME! :D :D :D
So far we kicked some sweet ass 2-0 record!
Can't wait for sept 4th it'll be Canada vs Russia :D should be an amazing game!!! :D |

Team Canada looks solid so far :) And this without 3 of their best defencemen (Pronger, Blake, and Jovanoski). |

I believe there was conflict with the players on who was chosen for the coaching and/or management staff and many decided to bow out. That's generalized but there was an issue along those lines somewhere.

It's only Sweeden that can stop Canada...
Russia looks really bad :( The reason so many players are not willing to play for the national team is the conflict with the management. All the NHL stars are used to the professional atittude and they know that that hockey strategies have changed since soviet times, and the professional management team is important to have. Unfortunately all the russian hockey league officials who are in charge of the national team still live in the 80's. We had a very good team during the Olympics in 2002, but that's only b/c our coach back then was Slava Fetisov who is a very respected person among NHL stars. And it was Putin's personal decesion to make Fetisov a coach, all the league oficials were against that :whip:
Russian national hockey will remain where it is untill all this old guard of communist bitches is gone and some smart and up to date people come on their place. |
