I read your initial post but don't have time to go through the entire thread. Having all those questions is a good thing. To quote Trinity from the Matrix part one, "it's the question that drives us." If you knew all the answers would life be worth living? I think not. The way I see it is, the more questions the better. Makes life a lot more interesting. |

true, but interesting does not necessarily equal fun though. |

true but would you rather know all the answers and be bored? :) |

hahaha, knowing the answers wont garantee boredom.
i see the answers acting more like a guide. |

I read some of the replies but not all.
I often think about things like this. For example, I believe God or any mention of Gods in our society have simply been aliens who once visited the earth, and were so unimaginable ... that humans deemed them Gods.
Also, I believe we as a species are extremely primitive. Humans are like a disease (as said in The Matrix). Humans are just animals with an imagination, roughly speaking. The only reason we have evolved above animals and monkeys is because of imagination ... imagination and thought allows for new knowledge to be created ... otherwise, how did knowledge come about in the first place (not counting in-born knowledge)? Einstein himself said:
"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited; imagination encircles the world"
Many things being discussed in this thread ... I simply believe we are beyond primitive to understand such things. I believe that, in theory, EVERYTHING has a reason for it's being ... it's existence ... and whatever it does in the universe. Yes, that means I do disagree with quantum mechanics. Hell, I disagree with 99% of current human knowledge. I mean who's to say if quantum mechanics is right or wrong? What if hypothetically, aliens came to earth one day, and showed us how stupid quantum mechanics really is. I mean, anything is possible, and nobody can prove this statement wrong. For example, quantum mechanics says that at any point in time ... we cannot determine where all particles exist, what direction they are moving, etc (I don't want to see a huge technical reply against this ... I only have a rough understanding of quantum mechanics, so bear with me). Let's say though, hypothetically, we had the power to slow down time, or to exist in a point of existence where there is no time ... using the logic behind quantum mechanics, that means we would know exactly where all sub-atomic particles are located, and in what state, and which direction they are moving .... since there would be no time (Einstein "The only reason for time is so everything doesn't happen at once").
I believe there are aliens out there who possess so much intellect, and knowledge, and are so advanced, they know how the universe works ... they can travel between "dimensions" or "parallel universes" ... whatever you want to call it. I beleive there are aliens that can manipulate time and space, that they know what and where a black hole goes, they know what "dark matter" is, and they probably consider our race to be so primitive and insignificant, we are like ants to them. I believe these aliens have gotten rid of emotion, instinct, and other useless social constructions like religion. I believe these aliens may even understand their subconscious, or gotten rid of it alltogether. Anything is possible really.
I think that we consider everything to be random, because we are much, much, much, much too primitive to understand how these "random" things work. So many questions and theories are magically explained by this blanket theory that dominates all other theories ... the universe is random, and we just have to accept it. Well how can any human prove that? Or disprove that? I mean you people should at least be open to the idea that the universe is NOT random. For all we know, quantum mechanics may turn out to be as dumb as "the earth is flat, and there are waterfalls and demons at the edge of the earth". This was, at one point in human history, considered actual "scientific fact". Many professors and intellectuals had "proof" that this was true (during the time of this theory).
So in essence, anything is possible, and we there are many things we simply cannot comprehend, or even imagine. We just are too primitive for this. Oh, and I believe as a whole, our life, our society is not random at all ... rather there is an elite group of people who control the world and they dictate how society should run, and how we should life, as a whole.

i couldnt agree with you more on that one.
even though you said that you believe that the universe is not random and that society is not random, which i somewhat agree, would you dare to apply those theories to an individuals life and EVERY event that happens in thier life?? |

I like your thinking. I have to agree with many points, except for maYBE one thing I really have to disagree - I dont think anyone can travel to another universe. I think our universe is closed, and noone can escape it in such a way as to reach another universe. I think our universe is a small piece in another bigger picture. The gravity of our universe will not let anything escape it and eventually the universe will merge back again into a single point in space smaller than a pin, and then the Big Bang will happen again, just like it happened an infinite number of time already.
The universe might appear to be expanding, but in the bigger picture, it is closer to merging back again. We've seen moons orbiting planets, planets orbit a star, stars orbit a galaxy, galaxies orbiting a bigger reginal galaxy, but we haven't seen the bigger picture. Just like we see atoms and some lifeforms to be so tiny, but yet this universe might appear to be small from a bigger point of view.
There are thousands of civilizations out there, and the ones who know about us are intellent enough to leave us alone, because there's a reason for that - they do not want to interfere with our decision making - they want us to choose for ourselves.
