| the night of Tiesto & Misstress B....Tiesto really sucked....the only reason people like him is cause hes Tiesto...otherwise....any trance dj could have made a better set.....Misstress was really good that night....but geez, not even close to a good techno set |

sarah, even tho I don't like trance as i used to.
I don't understand why you found those 3 hours so long... (maybe you're anticipating MB for so long).
Tiesto was alright, he even spun harder than he usualy does. It was good, not end-of-the-world-good but still.
To the contrary, I think MB didn't deliver that night, and imo wasn't very professional by just dropping hard banging tunes from the let go. |

Tiesto's set was up and down, up and down. It went from hard trance to progressive to fluffy and back again. The pattern became predictable and boring.
The only part I enjoyed was at the end when he was setting things up to Barbara, where he played some really good hard trance.
I actually thought her tracks at the beginning were not too hard at all - I remember lots of Cave and other tribal techno. But that's her usual style - how can you say it's not professional? She was booked to play as Misstress Barbara, why should she change her programming to follow after a trance DJ? |

a dj is hired to make you dance and ensure a good programming and flow.
if she couldn't do it after tiesto, why accept the gig? |

So what, she needs to play trance becuase someone booked her to follow after a trance DJ?
In that case, then tiesto should have warmed up the crowd for her by playing techno.
Tiesto didn't open for MB and MB didn't close for Tiesto. They are both headliners, and when you have more than one headliner, each will play their own style and not "open" or "close" for the other. That means it's up to the club to book headliners whose styles work together if they want the whole night to "flow." |

Yes Tiesto's is the #1 of dj's,yes he has awesome skills/mixing,but for heaven sakes,he is not god. Im tired of people putting him up there like he was untouchable. Now i understand for newbies or people who recently discovered trance to consider him as the best, but not people who's been listening to trance for 3 years, playing only tiesto's cd/sets during all that time, talk about "seeing only the point of his nose".The people in this industry that i really admire for their WORK is the producers,i admire dj's too,but not at the same level. Dj's are there to make you dance, they are awesome in the way they make you dance/their selection of tracks.Dj's are great in the way they can get a certain vibe in a crowd with the tracks they play/mixing,not for their name or celebrity. Therefore someone can be as good in the mixing then tiesto cuz its accessible to everyone, its not a secret or hidden talent.Tiesto of course they're will be an awesome party vibe,we're +/- 3000 people crammed in the place. If i look at tiesto's production...maybe dallas 4pm i dig ,suburban train, his remix of southern sun (have to amplify the bass though),dats it,there's nothing extraordinary about his other productions, they're great, but not mind blowing.
And more and more people will have this attitude towards him,its predictable. Like the world is seriously starting to hate the u.s. becuz "they're #1" , "they're the world's police/protector" , "there isnt no better place then the usa"...BULL! Besides he started not only early (14) but at a time where he was one of the pioneers of trance,im not saying it was easy to break threw, but it was easy to stay at #1 cuz you're known for being the god of trance. Then others followed in his footsteps.
At one time,he was the greatest of them all,no doubt about it,but now i think its his name thats bringing the people more then what he spins.Check the F1,theres no doubt in everybody's mind that at this moment and time,Michael Schumacher is the best driver there is and probably that ever existed...people are getting sick of him winning all the time, well more and more, but what i've seen of montreal and i always said,we like winners,we like nice things,we like what looks pretty,we 're so freakin superficial,so there's always a red sea at the mtl f1 race, but why support him if you're 90% sure he's gonna win,u sure he still needs our support?"Yeah i adore him and i adore ferrari"; so basically u go just to see him win...what about the whole race aspect/concept of it?if he starts first and finish first, what da hell did u come for except for the smell of tires and sounds of the motors? All this to say it isnt the music anymore, its popularity, its favoritism, tiesto's practically a poster boy for the commercialization of trance. Proof of it...there's way too much people from hull/gatineau coming to aria when tiesto's there :toothless hehe jokin. But even then,I doubt if you tell them a name of a dj between the 10th and 20th place of the dj list for example, they'll have heard about him.
People easily make links without making any other changes, they dont look around once they're satisfied with what they got or know. Diesel= quality brand for jeans, shirts, etc. Does it mean that a new brand that just came out that cost maybe 40$-50$ less isnt better then Diesel. Well people will never know cause for the ridiculously high price of diesel jeans, they're are satisfied, they know its quality and they'll stick with it,without giving a chance to that new brand;probably the same thing with Tiesto. Yes it seems im bashing at him,but dont get me wrong,im not,i will go to every tiesto parties not only for the great party vibe there is at his parties, but he surprises me still even with what i said, always spins some wicked tracks, but last time, the 2nd half of his set was crazy...the first half of his set, except for a very few amount of tracks,im sorry but it was PBS boring.Had to think about Conan O'Brien/Triumph the insult dog skits to keep me awake.
As for Mistress, well didnt quite detect the mixing flaws, and the tracks whooped ass.Legs hurted like nutz, but her music gave me the energy to go on,i give her some major proopz to her,but lets not forget the producers, they the reason why we dancing like nutz.So we like dj's that matches our style of music, the style that makes the adrenaline pump and flow in our blood at maximum rate, and for me there's nothing better then some freakin techno blasting in my head nowadays to make me lose some screws and make a hole in the wall.(Slowly discovering house too :toocool: ) |

whaa there, tiesto did put some water in his wine by spinning harder at the end of his set... why didn't misstress take it from there? |
