Misstress Barbara (pg. 8)

I do like here style.

Seen her on numerous occasion, and on numerous occasion her mixing was nothing more than Ok. Her tracklisting needed a little updating. Contrary to what you think it's easier for a female to get into the market, every club goers wants to see a female chick spinning the records. I mean, for equal talent, a club owner will always try to book a female.

I'm not saying that there aren't no good female dj's. I love sandra collins as well as Monika cruze, I just think that Misstress Barbara is overhyped. I mean i can't believe that she charges more than many other big dj's that are at least 200 times better than her !

Yes, contrary to what I think, BEING a female DJ!

You may get a booking if some sexist promoter wants a female DJ for a show, but you do not get invited back unless you have talent! Barbara has been playing the same big parties with the biggest techno names for years - at awakenings, at F135, at groove parade, I love techno, etc...just because you don't like her style or her tracks or whatever doesn't mean she is overhyped. Clearly there are a lot of people who enjoy what she does.

This female DJ argument bull bothers me..

Having seen the other side of the medal ( the club owner point of view ) i can tell you that ANY club owner or party promoter will book a female dj over any other male dj.

You think it's NORMAL for her to charge more than, Dave clarke, than Adam bayer, Marco Carolla, ben sims, chris liebing, dave the drummer and to some extend Preach

Let's face it, ALL THOSE GUYS ARE BETTER THAN HER and i'm just talking technical skills here, but she is there because she can sell herself, and because she's got boobies!!

Also, you seem to think that i hate what she does, i never said that, i've enjoyed most of her sets ( and i've seen her more than once ). What I said, is that her tracklisting is net truly new ( referring to the fact that she usually plays a lot of older and more known stuff so that the crowd already knows the song that she's playing )i said that her mixing is nothing more that ok, and crappy from time to time, i've witness a trainwreck orgy from her and she wasn't drunk or high. I said that she is always bitching and whinning about everything ( just go read what she says on her board you'll understand ). I Said that she wants to be treated as a princess or else she's doing her attitude, and this business doesn't need that kind of attitude !

I have read her board, and she has said many positive things on there about people, places, gigs, etc. I guess you only look at negative things though. but it is called TRUTH and the TRUTH is that sometimes there are things to complain about or explain! I respect her for not being afraid that people won't like what she has to say sometimes.

And DJing is not based on technical skills alone. Jeff Mills trainwrecks all the time, it's practically part of his style - why is he one of the highest paid techno DJs in the world, then?

Barbara can charge whatever people will pay (supply and demand!) - and promoters will pay it because she brings people to the club, and does a good job getting people to have fun. A DJs job is to make people dance - and she does that very well.

but we will have to agree to disagree, it seems!

so this is a question that i have always wondered....... how much does a dj make for an even....... i know it is different for each dj and each even.......but for instance, say deep dish @ aria nye 04? or a simalar event/dj?
KrinKer
You could easily double the amount of money someone make in a year ....

Tiesto probably does about 30 000 $ per gig ! For nye .... double, tripple, hell i'm pretty sure he charges no less than 50 000 % for nye !

i think tiesto is something like 25-30K US for a night at Aria.

it depends, on the size of the club/party, which night, what time in the year, etc. etc.
malek
barbara maybe 8-9K US !!!! which is alot btw!

Skipper whatever you can argue, female djs will always have a higher fee as a DJ even if their dj skills are not well developped. It is a fact in this business and everyone admits it.
But noone is complaining anyway:)
