ask yourself why. its a known fact that democrats benefit most from increase in voter turnout, and the whole rock the vote thing is blatently aimed at swaying the vote against bush (not that i am against this). fair enough, if american artists wish to do so then thats their business. but by supporting this group, he IS stating what he thinks, just by supporting them, which if you refer to my previous post, is a complete waste of time.

well maybe he doesnt see it that way & anyway I dont think its something that he deserves to take stick for. Just leave him to it.

Your point about it being ok for american artists and not for other nationalities is total bollocks though.

I highly doubt that Paul Van Dyk supports Bush, especially with the German discontent with the war in Iraq.

Not everyone in a country shares the same opinion on something.

I'm glad PvD's with the Rock the Vote movement. At least he's a respectable face. People like Paris Hilton don't inspire me to vote, she'll probably vote for Bush, so she'll gets those tax cuts that rich sluts love.

Anyone encouraging the youth of America to vote is a plus in my book. We need as many as possible, because there are still a large number who are sitting on their asses, or love the prospect of voting for Big Bird.

quite ironic that in a country that is trying to quash the dangerous youth movement that is clubbing, that they go and get one of the heroes of this dangerous youth movement to promote the voting of its leader

The Rock the Vote campaign is a grassroots/activist organization whose purpose is to raise awareness of the election process, and it isn't sponsored by the US government.

But the fact remains that Paul Van Dyk is against Bush

first of all, why does some tour have to include non americans telling you to vote. It is pathetically sad that PvD has to say vote and why should be telling you that. CL, D:Fuse, Morillo and others should have said vote, not PvD lmao. Rock the vote tour, since when did anyone give a crap about PvD's opinion, he lives in Berlin last I checked and I doubt he qualifies as an American citizen. We all know PvD's opinions on war but the funny thing is no one cares about what a deejay thinks, they are paid to play records in front of people, that's it. I don't see PvD running for German office or doing anything, which leads me to believe, this is a lame cashgrab. Top marks to Paul for taking the dough tho.

now with that being said

Americans, get out and vote.

Like Lucy said, PvD probably isn't getting any additional money for this tour, no more than he would a normal tour. I think it is good that he is helping to get the message out, regardless of his nationality. And you're right that it is sad that a DJ is telling people to vote. But likewise it would be sad if American DJs like Christopher Lawrence, D:Fuse, or Eric Morillo had to tell us to vote. It shouldn't take a celebrity to tell you that you need to vote, but if it helps raise awareness then it really isn't that bad though.

I'm interested in what you think about Bono basically doing the same thing. He was at both of the major party conventions this year and was on a few cable news programs speaking out on issues and the upcoming election. Do you feel it is just as sad that Bono is also telling people to vote?

Thank you, I was waiting for someone to say that...yay democracy.

The new South Park had some good commentary on the whole situation. Basically, they said that the choice is always between a big douche and a turd sandwich since those are the only kinds of people willing to suck up enough to get in a position of being elected. I don't think that episode brought in any new voters.

The day my vote actually counts for something when electing a president will be the first day I do it. Unfortuneatly, the way the United States voting system is structured the popular vote doesn't elect the president. Since the state I live in (Indiana) is 60% Republican and it hasn't casted it's electorial votes for a Democrat since Jimmy Carter, and shows no signs of changing that trend this year, there isn't any reason for me to vote for president.

I am not completely apathetic however, and I do vote for local officials, since I do get to have a little input into how my life is being run. The two party system of American politics, and the financial election policies to recieve campaign funds is a whole seperate issue but one just as valid in pointing out the lack of voter freedom in American elections.

Any foriegn source and their attempt to influence the youth of America to vote is an obvious supporter of the Democratic party, and I think shows just how much the rest of the world hates George Bush!

Bono should stfu about his causes and whore the new album already. 4 facking years, the twat...yer paid to sing, not hype african debt relief, which I applaud but it is getting tired. I rather hear him sing sunday, bloody sunday live than hear his verbatim.

Christopher Lawrence and D:Fuse clearly lost the plot, both are nice guys but they are completely ed up, their anti bush stance was pathetic. I'm not saying Bush is smart nor great but still a deejay is paid to play records and his political opinion is just addon. They started a vote bush out tour, pathetic that stars do this. They should get people to get out and vote damnit.

I think it is great that you actually vote in your local elections because you're right, they do have a great effect on your life and your community. But I think you are underestimating the worth of your vote in the presidential election. Every vote does count. For real. Just because polls and history may show that your state tends to lean one way doesn't mean that things can change. Hell, the ing Red Sox won the World Series this year, and beat some pretty tough odds to get there. Stranger things have happened. Besides, early polls only take into account usually a few thousand intended voters. It isn't really the most scientific way to determine an election, which is why the only poll that matters is the one on November 2.
