Elementary school, high school and college. All of them.

For example:

here I live, we first have 9 years of elementary school, then you can optionally read 3 years of what either equals high school or college, where you specialize in something like mathematics, machines or whatever.
Then you could read further in, what in direct translation is "high school", but what I think is university. No matter how I view it, either High School or College just can't fit in.

Basically, tell me all the schools you go through, and if they are optional or not... :conf:

This is kinda pitiful, but Im actually not sure if this is uniform across the country...

Nonethelss here goes:

Primary/Elementary education is comprised of 8 years or grades. Here they focus on a very shallow approach to learning. These years are mandatory. Not sending your child to school or making arrangements for them to be educated at home (*Home schooling) is punishable by law (at least in my state). Standaradized testing is taken every few years to get an idea of how a student compares to his or her peers.
*Home-schooling is when a parent or guardian agrees to teach a state-approved curriculum at home.

Secondary Education/High School** is, unlike most other countries, mandatory. Here your topics are a bit more specific (you take chemistry instead of science, Government instead of Social Studies.) This is a 4 year addendum to your Primary education.
**Homeschooling is allowed here as well.

Trade/Technical School is a school where you learn a specific trade. These trades are often related to fixing or operating some type of machinery. Their length varies depending on the school and the level of expertise you desire. This is not mandatory.

Community College is roughly a 2-3 year program designed for people with full time jobs. This is for people who want the extra promotion or additional salary that a college degree can bring, without all the hassle of working through a 4 year program. These school have less stringent standards and requirements to attain a degree.

Undergraduate College is a (ideally) a 4 year program during which students take classes scheduled around the schools offering times and their own lives. Here you take classes based on specific facets of specific topics (instead of chemistry, you take several levels of neurochemistry, instead of government, you take several classes based on the evolution of governments) as well as general education classes. This is not mandatory, but is essential to most types of non service employment.

Graduate School/Law School/Medical School are (ideally) 2 to 6 year programs for someone with an undergraduate university degree. These schools are far from mandatory, and in the US, are still somewhat difficult to get entry into. These schools concentrate on the most updated knowledge and application of your previous knowledge, (instead of neurochemistry, you learn how to use of your neurochemical knowledge by learning to develop neurochemical drugs). No general education is required here.

Tribu and DJCisnos- Thread Hijackers!

RJ- Everyone else already told you the right things. Tough it out for a little more and get the most you can get out of it. If you put no effort into it, you'll get nothing out of it. Put as much effort into your school as you do into your music. Don't start quiting on yourself now and if you've been a quiter for most of your life, you must break that habit now, not tommorrow.

Most importantly, set some goals and make a realistic plan for yourself to achieve those goals. Without this, you won't get anywhere; every day will be indistinguishable from any other and will be without real meaning or significance. If you don't know how to, post some ideas or thought here, and i'm sure someone will be willing to help you out, or pm me.

ok well school has gotten alot more boring that it was before. the en rules they make u follow, the teachers, i swear, the work, OMG, i must have 'lazytidus' or something because i did absolutley nothing, hah, i still have an option of going to another school in another district, and i think i will go to that other school, but i can't until next semester.

so all your classmates dropped out aswell? considered it was so boring and the rules were unfair and all

stop crying.. school ain't fun for 90% of the ppl, go to that other school and.. DEAL WITH IT :o
{b.s.e.}
HS diploma is a must, the rest.

I dropped out when I was in grade 11, and it was a large sized mistake. I went back for a year and finished it, but have no immediate plans for a post secondary education. Seriously, only natives and people named Tyrone have a grade 11 education.

Dont you think its difficult for all of us man? Im in HS and apart from seeing friends and a few more enjoyable classes, i hate everything about it. Some of my teachers i just want to backhand... but seriously, we all have to/had to deal with it, so you arent in any different of a spot than any of us were. Life is full of challenges, but you cant back down from one just cause its not fun or its too hard...

you guys make it seem so easy by saying "go back", yes i can go back (and i'm think i will when i'm allowed) but really what's the point, i won't do anything; i'll skip often; bitch at the teachers, and so on, like Remiks said, its just not my thing, and if i'm gonna be following rules might as well get paid for it, see money motivates me:D... anywho most of you are probably laughing at my 'ignorance' or whatever, but hey, that's just me, cant change, wont change.

You are a ing shortsighted idiot. You say money motivates you, so you go get paid $7 to follow rules at a movie theater.

Or, you could suck it up and deal and finish high school, go to college, and then get paid $25 an hour at a job to follow rules.

Get a clue, school isnt anybody's thing. Its a means to an end.

If you are too lazy to personally get motivated to go to school, why don't you go see a psychologist and fake a case of ADD. Or hell, you might actually have it. You might find school more tolerable on stimulants.

basically what i was gonna say, i was just trying to be a bit nicer

school is tough, but its only the beginning. and all of us have to go through it no matter how badly we dont want to.

and those who mentioned bill gates not finishing school and being a billionaire... are stupid haha.. cuz bill gates is like one in half of the earth... and unless R.J has something really sweet up his sleeve, he'd have a hard way working up to the billionaire status.

just go back to school dood, even though u said u will promise US u will do it next semester.. it has nothign to do with us. Just promise yourself and keep that promise.

its no one's thing.. and it was never easy for anyone.. but most of us went through with it.
