Umm, welcome to the real world where you can’t always just do whatever the hell you want or get your way, (well at least not until you have a job where you are your own boss and make lots of money, which usually requires EDUCATION). You were blessed with the ability to learn and be successful and you have the priviledge of getting a free education in this country and you are going to throw it all away because you don’t want to follow rules? Get your pathetic ass back in school and get a damn education so you don’t end up like a loser on the streets making absolutely no contribution to society. |

i think after working at a ty boring job for a semester you'll be glad to return to school. btw if ur parents charged you rent and you had to pay for all your own stuff you'd also discover you have to work all day just to break even. now thats a "real" education you can't get @ school. |

Haha RJ, I wish I had the excuse of being a little to fail high school, I was just plain out lazy... infact I was always one of the better kids in class, but come to homework or anything I had to do outa class i was like " this , its my time, I do what I want to do"
Hrmmmm.... Tribu what educational system you in?
Here it goes:
Kindergarten/Elementry School: 6 years of usesless crap, mainly to develope your personal relations with other kids and how to act right... maybe some state/national history and basic science math too... but its pretty pointless, they teach it to you again in....
Middle School!: The three years designed just for when kids go wacky from puberty, a hot spot for slutty young girls and early drugs! Pot and bathroom BJ's were pretty big at my school. Math is retarded, its all rehashed unless you test into a higher up class. History is the same again, and very very useless, as most of the text is 25 years old. Science is the only part that really got me, one because my science teacher in 7th grade was a very hot just outa school 24 year old, whos cousin was in my grade and EVEN HOTTER (I have never bashed French woman since!), second because in 8th grade I was smarter than the teacher, and upon asking me if I wanted to teach the class because she thought I could do a better job, I did, and did do a better job! Anyways, Middle School is useless still, just a holding pen to keep kids in check while they "grow up" :p
Highschool: Stuff can actually work here if you try. I didnt, I slacked all through out, except tests, I consistantly tested higher than 98% of my grade... while failing half my classes from lack of homework. In the US, it dosnt matter if you know a subject, it matters if you do mindless busy work! :D The best part about high school is that English stops! It becomes just a reading class, no more spelling tests and grammer work sheets that are oh so pointless unless you want to be a professional writer. Everything else is good, most of my teachers were pretty laid back, if you ed up or slacked off they didnt get on you that hard, they knew it was your choice... so that made it easier for me to just relax. Highschool was a big thumbs up!
Yea, thats my schooling so far... from their you can goto:
Community/Junior College: A mix of highschoolers doing college level classes (still want some high school , this is the place to be!) and kids who cant afford college yet. Throw in some old people wanting to learn more and thats pretty much it.
College, pretty much all the same here. You pay them, they give you paper with a thing saying you know something, which you may or may not and then it helps you get a job. Go an extra four or five and make some money being a doctor or lawyer! :)
Anyways, that was a rant! |
Im in Ohio, but I went through private education so I didnt think about the distinction between elementary and middle school. Also, I dont really count kindergarten because it sppears to be more of a state-sponsored, educational day care more than a school. So my descriptions might easily be way off. |

Only motivated by money?

Some important points from this you might want to consider:
· The rate of return on an additional year of schooling is quite substantial. In 1990, this rate averaged almost 10 percent per annum.
· In 1998, the median income of bachelor degree recipients was $46,285, nearly $20,000 higher than the median income for workers with only high school diplomas.
Oh, and an FYI, the median income of someone with only some 9th-12th grade education but no diploma is $20,585.
I've been in 'the real world' for several years now and I'll tell you straight up, you are not gonna have much fun trying to live on $20K a year. Really, I can't imagine trying to live on less than $50K if you have a family. |

so. he needs to read all this anyway. he probably just said that after he realized what a loser he'd be (which we so nicely pointed out to him:p ) if he dropped out. |

| You think high school is bad? Wait until you get out in the real world and have a boss you hate breathing over your shoulder judging everything you do so you can make minimum wage. You go home exhausted, have a quick meal and pass out. All to repeat it for the rest of your life. How does high school sound now? |

Im going to do the same in spring, Im finishing up my highschool online and hitting up the community college to get some out of the way and get my parents and friend off my back. (btw check this site out, if you have the money, its basically like buying high school credits, www.redcomet.org )
Right now Im doing freelance webdesign with a friend of mine who dropped out (but is doing one of those nasty, super cheap totally online highschools). Getting paid 2000$ for like basically... ummm hrmmm how many hours have I put in on this project... about maybe 16-24 hours is not bad. $83 bucks an hour and I didnt even finish highschool! :p
Of course, its not easy work, outside of school I studied coding by myself during my free time and been doing that for 6 years now almost,so its not something anyone can just jump into. |
That's good that, while out of school, you spent your free time learning about something you were interested in that had a real-world application instead of just getting a crap job and being lazy. If and when you do attend community college or even a university and get your degree that experience will be very useful to you in finding a job. |
