Well..
that's what I've been told by many people here....
Compared to real bands... are Djs really prostitutes??? BEcause they don't make their own music, but just play others??? DOes that mean that they're not really proper musicians? Does it mean, that bands are real musicians, and that they deserve more respect?
wat do u say to someone who says something like that :( ???? |

Somehow it sounds too stupid for me.
Have you ever heard people saying "A very famous and super cool band is coming called Armin van buren,or say James zabiela"?????
DJ's are DJ's.DJ is a shortage for DiscJokey,so he must play others music.
But i think you're being right bout sayin that bands are real musicians.
And Iv'e just came to one conclusion, that maybe Tiesto is trying to be a band just by creating and playing load of his own music.

| Yup..Djing is soo overrated. Nothing pisses me off more when Djs out there (who dont produce) act like they're god when they're spinning, pretending like they made the song n :rolleyes: . I dont produce and I cos of that I dont tell many people I Dj cos I find it embarrasing. Theres nothing cool about playing other peoples records. The only Djs I respect r the once that either produce or are extremley talanted on the decks (eg Jonathan Lisle). And Djs who dont produce aren't musicians...Djing is not making music! The only reason I do it is cos I love music. I love compiling n mixing underground tunes that I can show my friends later to expose them to this scene. |

Why would you get embarrased about telling someone your a dj. Thats pretty sad mate.
A dj is not a musician, that much is correct. But nowadays there are a load of bands out there who don't write their own music -they just sing words - is that a musician - no. |

u could also say that a dj actually creates atmosphere and makes the crowd go nuts..it entertains them...doesnt an musician do the same thing?
I agree thought that currently DJs are way over rated but thats just a temporary thing i recon... |

Couldnt have said it better myself,a few artists out there today cant even sing without the aid of protools. |

I agree 100%, that s what I think too...
For example:
Airwave (L-Vee) is more important than Armin for me, cus I give more credit to who produces...

And people praise Armin, I`ll not question about Tiesto cus Tiesto owns Armin producing and djing...

Tiesto = 10 sound engineers that he hums it they make it, hes the best advertiser and this has swayed your opinion on him as being the "best dj", personally i believe armin has produced some amazing tracks and has much more talent and style then tiesto has.

1. you must be shallow you think people will think less of you for being a dj? you = shallow idiot.
2. Do you play an instrument? if you do i hope you play ONLY music you write otherwise its like you playing someone else’s music and then being proud of it. (exact same as playing a record mate)
3. Saying djs that dont produce arnt musicians is the dumbest thing i've ever heard you for sure have never touched a turntable.
