Im quite happy that F n P might have residency at Viva because honestly of all the guests they have brought there in my memory, they were the best ones and only ones who fit the night. Viva is more than just a marathon trance club. F N P did a good job at keeping the night consistant to what Mark plays and even played a lot of the same tunes that Mark plays weekly. They mixed it up quite well too.
They should forget the guests, give F N P their residency (im thinking it must be monthly or bimonthly?) and keep mark there with an opener every other time. Most guests at viva usually flop because its a very very picky crowd. |
First off I don't know how long you have been at VIVA but if you think that Filo and Peri are the best DJ's that VIVA has ever brought in then you haven't been at VIVA very long or are on cheap crack or very stupid or simply forgetting how VIVA has had the likes of Nu-NRG,John "00" Fleming,Talla 2XLC,Dumonde,Orkidea,Marco V,Johan Gielen,Matt Hardwick,George Acosta and many others have all came through VIVA at one point or another as "guests". Are Filo and Peri good? Yes, but are they the best "guest" who has ever played at VIVA? No
Oh and how the heck would you expect Mark Oliver to open for Filo and Peri when he plays at ULTRA SUPER CLUB and then comes over to VIVA to play from 4 till 7 am???? You expect Mark to open from 4-5 or 4-6 and then have Filo and Peri play from 5-7 or 6-7 or do you think that Mark Oliver has magical powers which allow him to be at 2 clubs at the same time?:tongue3 :stongue: :happy2: |

He didn't say Mark should open... he said there should be an opener. FnP would be GREAT residents in my opinion also. |

Actually Mark spins @ the Guv on Sat nights and he spun at VIVA on Friday nite & I believe he spins VIVA on the occasional Fri nite.Jay would know more about Mark's gigs at VIVA then I would. |

Actually Mark Oliver has residencies at ULTRA and VIVA on Friday nights and at GUVERNMENT on Saturday nights so it's not like Mark only plays at VIVA every once ina blue moon because Mark's schedule has him spinning at ULTRA till close and then spinning at VIVA from 4-7am on Friday nights regularly. |

And just think, we coulda had a couple of hours of house if they opened the night with it like I'm a fan of. And I agree, those 3 tracks in the middle of Filo and Peri were a great rest, and I still even liked the music, even if I didn't feel like dancing to it. BUT, that DID ruin the flow a bit, if they had finished up the synth first, then switched to house to end their set, I'd have enjoyed the set that much more. |
I don't think its fair to blame f&p for disrupting the flow considering the opening dj was playing 145 bpm hardtrance. The club should have put a progressive or house guy first, f&p, and then a harder dj to close the night - keeping the flow is a collective thing. I talked to bo and he really didn't mind the opening set but most other dj's would get pretty pissed off if the opener before them was playing that hard, its a respect thing. I thought their set was really, really good and will only get better when they come back with their new residency. You need to remember that VIVA is a really unique crowd and takes a while to adjust to. |

I know I haven't been to Viva in ages, but from my many times there in the past, I think the only time I saw any 'disapproval' from the crowd was when Fergie was brought there (way too hard for them, i think, and there were only 5 TA's in attendance, trying to get the vibe going in front). Then again, maybe they weren't all that disapproving to begin with, as the Asian crowd rarely shows any true appreciation for the DJ. Maybe it was just too few TA's there hootin and hollerin in front to mask the lack of enthusiasm in the rest of the room? The crowd there just doesn't get 'hyped up' or vocal about it. I have also NEVER seen a Viva regular go and thank a DJ for a good set. It's like performing for a crowd of zombies with glowsticks. |

A) i dont think mark should open for filo and peri. I think they should open for mark.
B) I personally think those guys were way better than Nu NRG, talla and Gielan but thats because of my personal style preferances i guess.
C) George Acosta? Please! Trainwreck city!! |

if all you guys notice for a while already we are alternating a house and a trance openning set every other week.as i remember,in all the top guns that we brought to viva, talla 2xlc and johan gielan was our regulars' favourite. but i think now these to guys(bo and dom) fit perfectly into the viva team.we are exactly on the same line when comes to party, vibe and you guys(THE FANS).and jay keep up the go work man. |
