I wasn't sure what to expect but I went to this anyway.I got to Viva around 12:30 with NO line-up.Once inside DJ Key was dropping some great kickass Trance:tongue2 ...1:30 rolls around & I still don't recognize anyone:( ...I made a few calls & ran into my best friend Anthony that I called asking him to come by and he did:) .Filo & Perri came on and dropped some familia old school tracks including that Beasty Boys "Party" dance/housy track.Mark Oliver came on at around 4:30am but he was spinning some house which surprised me 'cause I thought it was gonna be more trancy so I left at 5am.
All in all I thought DJ Key was the best last nite with his trancy hard beats..wicked
thats pretty much it |

Filo and Peri
Was a decent night. Came in at 1:40 and I was surprised it was sorta empty. Lack of diversity but it seemed equal ratio genderwise hehe. The amount of people improved through the night. I just gotta say though that most of them were hanging around the bar on the sides. What's wrong with these people?? Don't they dance??
Anyways, I enjoyed Filo and Peri's set. A good balance of old and new tunes plus a really good mix of styles. Wish I can own the set. Songs I recognize, that Amen song, Under the Sun, Sosei, Fight for your Right, Pocket Damage, that's about all I can remember...
what's that song where it's all mostly drumbeats? Pretty cool tune although very hard to dance to. Also there's a song that has lyrics "Do you believe in a God that......or do you believe in me?" something like that. Would love to know that one too. And there's also another one with a funky guitar sound. Dang, I need a playlist.
next time if you guys need a ride to VIVA, just PM me. As long as you live at Northwest Scarborough, North York, Markham or Rich Hill, I should be able to accomodate. I read yer post too late, smuncky :( |

Glad to hear that by all accounts, Filo & Peri rocked it out proper.
I regret I was not able to make it all the way up to Viva for their second performance in Toronto. I've missed two opportunities to catch a great show from these exceedingly talented guys... My own dumb luck. :sadgreen:
My feeling is that Toronto loves what is best described as the 'Filo & Peri Phenomenon', and we're bound to have them visit our city in the (hopefully near!) future.
Dudes, I'm sure you guys put on a great show for those able to make the trek out to see you. Just make sure you keep doing that crazy thing you do and we'll do our best to support you ;)

Got there between 12-12:30 and DJ Key was dropping kickass track after track. This is my second time hearing him spin and I loved it both times. It's too bad the vibe gets ruined by the lack of energy at the beginning of the night at Viva.
Filo and Peri got on and the place livened up, made my way to the front and had a blast until they had those 3 or 4 tracks in the middle of their set that had no synth. Fun to listen to, but was I the only one who noticed the entire dance floor start to stand still and the entire area in front of the DJ booth clear out? Except for the whistle-girl lol. But then they kicked it back into trance-mode and dropped some more great tracks... including a track I recognized off of a "Rave-o-lution" CD I bought many years ago... that one made my night lol.
Then Mark O came on, started playing house, and I left. |
