WITHOUT arguing about this, PLEASE respect me when i say:
I'm born in Kitchener, raised in Windsor, and LOVE Canada,
but I'm definitely 100% Croatian. No ifs, ands, buts about it.
Where ur born is JUST and ONLY that: where ur born.
Its not who u are. My BLOOD, my GENES, my HEART and SOUL are Croatian.
Nothing u say can change that:D |
u summed that up so well. 100% true man |

| I still cannot for the life of me understand how someone can claim another nationality "heart and soul" when they have never even stepped foot in the country let alone born or raised there. I doubt there is anybody running around Europe or anywhere else claiming to be Canadian even though they never been here. If i ever moved to another country, had kids and they ran around saying they were Canadian inspite of their real nationality id make sure that stopped real quick. |

Yeah, I think part of the problem is lack of discipline (and respect for this country) on part of the parents. The "old wave" of immigrants was not like this; my Polish friend said his dad would smack him upside the head whenever he started speaking Polish in front of a mixed (English) group. They were used to the hard life, they were used to their wealth coming and going, and they had respect, because among other things they seemed to remember the reasons why they LEFT their home country. They came to Canada because they wanted to make a better life for themselves and their family and were willing to make any sacrifices to do it.
"New wave" immigrants only come here because they're obsessed with the socialism and "multiculturalism" and think that they can carry on exactly as they did in their home countries with the exception of actually having to work or do anything hard (like learn English). That's why their kids become little snots running around touting that bullcrap.
Note that I am not referring specifically to anyone here, or their families - it's just an observation I've made in my own life that has proven itself true many many times. |
