Keep the language the same but let gay people get married...
all the Politically correct bull. Let gays marry and let mothers and fathers be husbands and wives....
How can gay people want to be recognized as "married" and get upset when people object to the word yet want the words husband and wife stricken because it offends them?
Either you are or you arent... sorry! |

Why is it the school's business to require 2 parents signatures in the first place? Are they supposed to be policing private relationships to ensure that both parents are being consulted?
If I as one parent / guardian choose (or choose not to) share my child's progress with my spouse, what business is that of the school's? |
What does this have to do with "sharing progress?" I'd have imagined permission slips for field trips and such. But even for report cards, I can think of plenty of good reason to require both signatures. Can you honestly think of any valid reason why they shouldn't (other than single parent families, which obviously DON'T require two)?
If you can't think of any legitimate reason why they shouldn't be allowed to require two signatures, then the faculty can put whatever the hell they want on those forms.
Same goes for husband, wife, mother and father, etc. It's utter nonsense to force the mainstream population to change their lives and beliefs to suit the personal choices of a small minority. |

Then they leave the other line blank, you fool. When children enrol in a school the faculty is made aware of their family situation, they know when kids have single parents. |
I believe that the forms are written up to inform those who may need to know, but the faculty isnt directly informed on an individual basis of each child's family status unless there is a special attention or condition the child has. None of my teachers knew I only lived with my mother until parent/teacher interview day and I had to inform them. |

And that bears what resemblance to procreation, exactly?

Finally, the Ontario court did not "strike down heterosexual marriage". It broadened its interpretation (as it has ever jurisdiction to do under the Charter) to be more inclusive. |
Yes and personally, I am ing PROUD AS HELL to live in a country and province that recognizes this.
I find it horrible and offensive that it can even be viewed in any other way! |

What is the plenty good reason to require both signatures? Why is one parent / guardian not sufficient? It's obviously fine in the case of single-parent homes. Again, the only reason I can think of is becaue the school does not trust the one parent to inform the other of what their child is doing.
And this law is not forcing mainstream population to change their lives and beliefs. It is not illegal for you to refer to your female spouse as a wife, and you can believe in the traditional heterosexual view of marriage all you like. HOWEVER, from a strictly civil point of view in which ALL citizens are equal under the law, that law should be equally applicable to all and if that can be accomplished by a few broader / more general terms, so be it. |
