I believe that your concern regarding your fate in the afterlife is inappropriate. No aspect of your joke suggested any inherent superiority of one racial or ethnic group over another. Instead, your joke played upon the characteristic skin coloration of those individuals generally classified as belonging to the "black" racial group. It did not imply anything inherently wrong with or inferior about this skin color, but only correctly associated it with the color of a shadow - in this case, the shadow of the planet earth.
Even if your joke was racist, finding it amusing would not correctly classify you as a racist precisely because it was a joke - a mockery - rather than an empirical claim. In a sense, you would be mocking racism and racist beleifs by making a joke out of them.
Finally, I do not know what particular system of faith you ascribe to, but I find it unlikely that racism is explicitly forbidden by the teachings of your faith. Most modern-day religions date back to a time when racism was not only tolerated, but encouraged. |
