Safe sex!!!!

But yeah things can still go wrong, and i guess if you dont believe in abortion that would be an argument, otherwise not.

Im with ya -- glad to FINALLY see someone with similar views as myself!! phew! If you're safe, then have it... if your 12, be all means, go have sex... dont be retarded about it tho.

i support abortion, so the whole pregnancy thing is a non-issue

i dunno, i think toooooooo many ppl are way too uptight about moderating the sexuality of teens. i dont see anythign wrong with it...

i think the fuss ppl make about teen over sexuality and teen sex and teens growing up too fast is garbage. times change, change w/ them... jesus christ, ppl need to stop overreacting and flipping out all the time over every single ing thing!

And further sign of degenerating of society. Too much sex in media, not enough responsibility to teach the teens about sex.

Teens having sex because it's cool because it's on tv. And they have no clue to the consequences.

Every time I hear a story like this AID story, or another teen pregnancy, I wonder, where the were the parents.

I was 15 when I first hit a home run. I didn't do it because it was cool or because tv told me to. I had sex because I was horny like every other person, so was my lady, we liked each other, so we used a condom and did it. All parents should do is teach their child to have sex responsibly. Berating a child about the dangers and immorality of sex as a teenager will only make them do something they already have a strong drive to do anyway.

The question is whether 16 yr old, heck even 18 yr old has the maturity to understand what sex does to a person.

I don't know about you, but seeing people who can't control their horniness and go bang every warm flesh out there is just sad in my eyes.

man...it's a simple biological function. I can't understand why so many people invent and attach all the emotional baggage to it. The age at which someone has sex is entirely up to them. Sure it's an important decision given the risks (pregnancy, STD's) and that is precisely why SAFE SEX should be preached to kids very early on. Sternly telling a 14 year old not to have sex until he's at least 21 or married is so ridiculous and old fashioned. Stubbornly preaching abstinence and condemning the use of condoms (hello John Paul II), I"m sorry, is only a hazard. People always have and always will have sex. So isn't it better trying to educate the youth about the risks involved instead of wasting resources on pointless surverys like this, which of course, the eye roll inducing conservative moralists just pounce on.

The "shocking" aspect of the article wasn't condom use, it was the young age of people having sex.

yes, teens are having sex... always have, always will.... but pre-teens??? :eyespop: outrageous!

If you had a daughter, would you approve of her having sex at age 10?

I think you've misunderstood me. I never said 16 yrs olds shouldn't have sex, period. I did say most 16 yr olds do not understand what having means in terms of physically, and emotionally.
Heck, if sex involves only one person (well, there's masterbation) and that person is the only person affected by sex, I could care less what he or she does. But sex involves two (or more) people. Most teens to my observation get emotionally involved with another person more intensely after sex. And considering how much stupid things teens do these days, well, they can ruin other people's lives.

As much as 'biological' sexual urges are, heck, if I indulge in all my urges and desires, along with everyone in this world, I'd be surprise if there is any humanity left.

Humans aren't animals.

yes...maybe if you read some theories on evolution and the human species, you'd understand why sex is a simple biological function. That said, it's always better when you have feelings for the person, no doubts there. But you DO NOT need to love someone to have sex with them. That's either a religious or personal choice and not the driving reason to have sex.

That was my whole point about condoms. OBVIOUSLY, ten year olds having sex is a problem. But 14 and up (POST PUBERTY of course)...no, I do not see a problem with that as long as they are EDUCATED in safe sex practices and have been given enough information to make a mature choice. Don't give me any crap about young teens not being able to make those choices either. Kids are a lot smarter than the credit they are given by arrogant people in the media.
