I broke up with my gf less than two weeks ago. Now that reality has set in I find myself questioning the "tis better to have loved... blah blah" but I know it's for the best. I've been with her for so long that I don't know how to be without her. Guess I'm gonna have to start at sqaure one but I'm ready up to the challenge. naesean3, I agree with a lot you said. It's only been a little while but already I'm starting to change my life for the better and take care of the most important person... me.

That's idealistic bull. Selfless my ass. In order for any human to do anything there must be some measure of a reward/compensation for doing it. If you work you get paid. If you eat you gain energy. If you masturbate you cum. Love is no different. If you love then you must gain something in exchange for that love otherwise you would not do it. Normally, the feeling of love is accompanied by a release of endorphines and other chemicals/hormones. In all likelihood this is the payback for love. Anyway, what I'm getting at is... love cannot be selfless as the lover benefits from the love.

That's 1 stereotypical post I haven't seen in a while. Love has nothing to do on how a human body or mind works. Love is a feeling sustained in your heart.

Think about something else. Change your focus. Just live your life without that person in it. Go out more with your friends instead, then that way you'll slowly get used to the idea of not being with that person. I don't know, I could be full of ...?

In all seriousness, you're actual heart plays no role in your emotions or feelings.

(AFAIK)

In any case...I would agree that if it's REAL AND TRUE love, then you really never fully get over it...there's this little thing inside that keeps bugging you about it...

Yep: as above: HE will always have a special place in my heart.....at first you are jaded and can be for a long time. Then you just realize that life and yourself can go on....The Love never stops. Would I ever get back with one I have loved and left- HELL NO....

all i know is that it sucks LARGE to be single for so long - thank god for 'toys', shoes like sex in the city and books such as "bitter Gilr" and "maybe he's just not that into you" i think the book "maybe he's just not into you " is my new found bible!!!:p

HELP!!!!!!

What I realized in the last year or so is that we all go through it. Have these things happen to us that we swear we'll never get over, I mean how could we possibly get over it? It'll always be at the back of our minds, and everything remind us of it. A song, a tv show, a movie, a colour, a saying... everthing. But what you have to tell yourself is that all those nights you cried yourself to sleep that someone else was too, you're not alone.......
Letting go is hard to do, how much time you ask? As much as you need. Only you'll know when you're finally okay. I won't lie, it may be never, but don't feel bad if thats the case. Some people just love more freely than others. Its unfortunate that the ones that can love are the ones that can hurt, what a twisted world we live in eh? but those who love before are more likely to love again...If you close your eyes and still see him, its okay, cuz eventually you'll find a way to accept what has happened and it won't be so painful anymore.

these are some words of wisdom that a friend sent to me and i thought i'd pass on to you...

try not to think about when you'll get over him. live your feelings day by day. don't deny yourself that hurt. i've heard that you have to experience feelings to their maximum - as in - hurt to the lowest point..so then afterwards, you have nowhere to go... but up :)

*hugs*
