That is true. The proposed budget with the NDP demands is bad for our economy. I expect there will be hard times to come. It's too bad though, our economy has been doing pretty good these past years.

what is going to be so bad about it? Investments in infrastructure and education?
oohhh scary!

meaningless words... education is a PROVINCIAL responsibility... most infrastructure is also provincial

Martin is just trying to buy his way out of an election... with our own money!!

the misuse of the federal spending power and the subsequent fiscal imbalance is one of the main causes of support for Quebec separatism

the scary part is the massive debt and inevitable taxation that will go with it. This will surely slow down the economy.

this is true - we rode out the last 15 years without a recession ------ but we are suffering for it now socially because of too MANY cuts - from both Camps - - our social services structure is dire need of repair especially the EDUCATION system that is a farce now with their threats of strikes every year/contract renewal........It is time to spend money - if we are smart about it in 2010-2012 our economy should be on a huge upswing with the opening up of the Pacific Rim countries and our careful divestment from the US to China and Partners.....

But more money isnt nec going to acheive that. Our social system is suffering because the way it's designed it can no longer handle the demands. I dont think it ever could which is why we have such massive debt. We need to restructure so that services can be delivered more efficiently and yes that means private/public partnerships. Its how most countries do it even in socialist europe! We are just so hell bent on being non american that we wont even consider it.

Throwing good money after bad is not the answer.

I know .....that was the only thing I really agreed with MIKE HARRIS - make the cuts - we needed to pare down and restructure - that much I argued when Mike Harris was being dissed by everyone - makes the cuts MIKE only to force restructure and fiscal restraint - with the hope to rebuild - and reintroduce money into a a more streamlined effecient manner---is this happening----I dont know??

Actually... I was listening on the radio to this, and the most disgusting thing was what Harper had to say. He essentially said that Stronach was only jumping ship to further her own political career because she would never be leader of the conservatives. It was really terrible. Honestly, the liberals piss me off sometimes, but Harper is such an . I really don't like him at all.

That's why you need a parallel private education system, so the country's aggregate education isn't at the mercy of politicians.

it was till mcguinty set us back 10 years. we were just getting caught up from the NDP /Liberal days of yore too. Bob Rae did the most damage. TOo bad the PCs couldnt finish their job. I didnt agree with many things they did though such as making municipalities take over provincial highways. Not to mention the confusion now that they have all been renumbered.

all he was stating was the truth. Stronach left to further her own career since she had tried and failed within the conservatives. Otherwise she would have sat as an independent which truely would have been the best thing for her constituents instead of being parachuted into a high level cabinet post with little experience.
