...maybe he can teach me.

You want to learn?

I will teach you and I drive a hyundai (you can't really screw it up too badly and it's easy to learn on)

Besides there is no set speed for each of the gears, if your a good enough driver you can push your car to the exact gear and a bit and it'll be fine, it all depends on listening to your engine. When i drove I never watch the tachometer, I just listened to the engine and knew when to shift.

I learned to change gears like that too! The problem is that that I sorta can't hear the engine cause the music is usually too loud in my car :tongue3

But yes, driving a stick is sooo much funner than automatic, I don't think I'm ever going back

Stick shift all the way! You have so much more control of the car, and it’s a lot more fun to drive. I can't stand driving automatic, and my clutch foot gets all antsy when I do...

I was just wondering who of the TA's know how to drive stick shift. I learned last summer, and I hated it at first, but now I love it! The only problem is my speeding! I speed enough as it is, but when driving stick, for some reason I always feel like I have to be going 80 to get into 4th gear! Haha

I will *never* drive anything other than manual...I feel too detached from the driving experience and bored as hell.

what kind of car are you driving? In most normal cars you would want to be in 4th while cruising at 60 km/h (as mentioned, depending upon the gear ratios)

When accelerating, that's another matter...in some cars you can hit 80+ (100+ in an S2000) in 2nd depending upon the limiter lol.

I've been known to exaggerate much...I guess ppl didn't understand that. Usually when I get between 40 - 50 km/h I switch into 4th gear...and I usually cruise around 70 km/h. If I get up to 90 - 100 km/h, like on the expressway, I'll switch up to 5th.
All I was trying to say is that when I'm driving my other car, I speed, but I tend to go faster when I'm driving stick.

^^^ it's the joy of hearing an engine rev...stick is just so much more fun to drive than merely stomping on a gas pedal :)

Yessir! I sometimes take the small highways around the Guelph line. There are some intersections with stop signs. It's fun getting back up to speed shifting up at the last possible second... :D

I despise my car and everything it stands for because of the 3-spd slushbox (oh god don't even get me started on it) and can't wait to finally get something with stick again. I miss my old cars so much :(
