it won't damage your engine. you might be putting a little more wear on it though which is normal. everytime you drive your car you put wear on the motor. no big deal.

rev-matching while downshifting (heel-toe or double clutching) can save your synchros though.

I personally drive my car @ 80 in third... if I'm racing I dont shift into third till at least 100. 5th in my car is for the 120+ while cruising or 160+ when racing... it's all relative, I drove a murcielago and you do 100 in first... sooo

The higher gear you're in, better fuel economy, however, that being said, don't forget to use your transmission and down shift and use the gears to accelerate quickly on highways.

I love my stick shift.

+1

I love my Prelude...especially when she goes into VTEC land at 5500 RPM...then she begs to go into the next gear...I love manual...

Do you drive one, Swamper? I took mine up to 240 one day and I thought I was passed 7000 rpm in 5th...maybe yours is slightly tweaked to go past redline (7400 rpm)? I also remember going to 170 in 4th but I think I hit redline so I shifted...

Performance for dollar value, I think the Prelude is WAY up there...I'm always excited to drive home in my Japanese beast (I've owned it for a year now and the giddyness hasn't worn off)

I just want a new car period.. anything that has 6 speed now.. 5 isn't good enough for me anymore :D

To be honest having a six-speed car is not worth it in T.O since you'll never be really able to use the car to its full potential. If we were in Germany...

Automatics take more power from the engine than an Automatic so for samll engined cars a manual trasmission is better and you find that the manual is almost the norm for most cars in europe with the typical 1.1-2.0 litre engines
When i learned to drive in the UK , and I assume the same is true , if you sat your test in a manual trans car yoy could drive anything , but if you sat it in an Auto then you were restricted from then on only to driver auto.

an automatic can shift much faster than a manual and most drag racers use something like a 2 speed powerglide although the lenco is also a popular alternative

I personally prefer manual trans and my firebird and 98 corvette are both 6 speed manual , although my older corvette is auto

I have yet to run out the 98 yet although my fastest run in the 86 vette was 268kmh (383 stroker 28lb injectors 58mm throttle body etc etc) up the 400 a couple of years back at around 5am
still have to get the 98 registered as its on texas plates (forgot to mention i just got it last week from ebay)so I will be taking it for a run soon

How many cc is that?

the 28lb injector is the ford injector that can be used in the tpi engines in place of the 24lb fuel injectors. thus giving more fuel flow to match the larger throttle body and the displacement increase , the 383 stroker is a 350 block with an externally balanced 400 crank, there is a lot more to the mootr but i was generalising
crazy that although they are ford they work in a GM
