What the hell is wrong with chanting Tiesto and enjoying being there to see HIM drop some good tracks.
Of course you like the music but if you think that thats the only reason to be there or enjoy a performance I feel sorry for you.
Hes just as much a part of the show as the music is!
Since when should we not enjoy and appreaciate the DJ? thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard. |
Appreciate the DJ all you want. But there's a difference between appreciating and worshipping. The behaviour of some people at the party and on this board is what I would expect from your typical Britney Spears fans. When you lose the ability to judge a party or a set objectively just because it's a specific DJ, there's a problem. People have been saying "the sound sucked and the crowd sucked but it was still the bestest night of my life!!!!!!!1" Either they've lost the ability to be critical because they worship Tiesto so much, or they had some really goooooood e, or they really need to get out more! Or maybe even all 3.
Don't get me wrong, this behaviour isn't what ruined the party for me, the bull sound did that. I'd just like to see people be a little more critical and start to hold promoters responsible for their actions. If they hear nothing but positive feedback, they'll think everything was "good enough" and they don't need to fix anything for next time. |

Did you ever think that some Britney Spears fanse worship her because they like Britney Spears? ...
Some people worship Tiesto because they like Tiesto...I still don't see what your point is...what's wrong with people worshiping someone? I don't see a problem with that at all :) |

There is no human that should be worshiped. Adored... sure, respected... of course, but worship should be saved for the devine. BTW, I didn't witness any worship... some adoration maybe but not worship, unless of course I just didn't notice the goat being sacraficed. |

:haha: :stongue: :haha: :stongue: lol...yeah the goat went up in flames on the patio after...  *edit* maybe someone sacrifised a virgin *edit*
Some people take things way too seriously...which brings me to the conversation I had with RJ on the patio...Sure I have a shirt that says "Tiesto is my God" and and a little sign in the sig - but doea that mean that I am 100% serious? Does that mean I worship the man unconditionally? No...of course not...half the time I exaggerate and push it on purpose because it's funny and I don't have a problem laughing at myself sometimes too. So just because some people were going crazy and "worshiping" Tiesto...doesn't mean anything...there are enough Armin worshipers as well...and same with every other big DJ...just need to take everything a little less seriously and enjoy yourself. |

I think the proper way to adress this would be to state that most people do not regard other people as gods. Likelihood is no one at the Docks on Saturday actually regards Tiesto as a god, thus the use of the term worship is incorrect and implies a connotation that is not accurate. Now, if a person does regard Tiesto or any other human as a deity then it is quite likely they should seek some professional help. |

Having read everyone's review I'd say RJ and I kinda felt the same about this party. Definately a thumbs down for me.
If I had to rate it....it was 6.5/10
-Though Tiesto threw down some classic tracks...it was nowhere in comparison to his previous performances. IMO December was waaaaay better.
-The sound was pretty bad. But then I can't blame him...it could have been many reasons that caused that...i.e. like the people who complained about the Dock, the guys working behind the lines or the people themselves that overcrowded the place and drummed out the sounds.
-His fast and rude exit was also a big turn-off for me (but then...that's kind of become his reputation now hasn't it).
-But most of all....I was not happy with the crowd that showed up. Palazzo, Z103.5 crowd really brought down this party in a big way...and they even cheapened Tiesto's performance. I didn't mind the Tiesto chanting...but what I did mind was the rudeness of the tall guys that just walked right in front of me (I even shoved a few right back and told 2 couples to take it to a cheap motel room). The bongo people should just be banned IMO...WTF :conf: don't they get that it sounds awfull :conf: :conf:  :whip:
Tiesto has always been a favourite of mine...because he always stuck to the euphoric tracks...borrowing from older Gatecrashers and those that were more talented than him. I won't bother naming whom he borrowed from, bc if you know ur music...then you know what I'm talking about.
Don't get me wrong....I don't disrespect Tiesto.....I have enjoyed him for a long time and will continue to enjoy him...but his style is changing and IMHO he peaked with his JUST BE release.
I have always considered TA's music appreciation as being elite and above the norm. And I hope for all your sakes...that you won't turn and hate him for what stands ahead. So I suggest you be prepared to move on....bc Tiesto has....and I think we should just be happy for him that he's crossed over into that kind of maintstream success.
So I dedicate this review IN MY MEMORY of Tiesto...and I'm happy he brought great joy into our lives with his music.
PEACE :D |
