Air France uses JP-4.

I see

mate, you are a walking encyclopedia

it is really weird to see this as the headline of Fox News:

http://www.foxnews.com/

this whole thing brings back memories of the Toronto Air Show tragedy that I am sure many TAs (including myself) witnessed. Probably one of the most horrifying things I've ever seen.

was there debris on the highway? or did people just slow down to watch the show?

i HATE when people do that... go home and watch it on the news if you've never seen a burning plane before...

I'm just glad that everyone got out alive....for once a plane crash with a HAPPY ending:)

I think that it is truly amazing that everyone survived this!

Makes me smile for a change!
Moral Hazard
I saw this happen in my rearview mirror. It's kind of odd how quickly I was able to dismiss it by convincing myself that it couldn't have been a crash, it must have been my mind playing tricks on me due to the rain, lightning and thunder. About 20 minutes later I heard about the crash on the radio, that's when it sunk in that I actually saw a plan crash. A disturbing realization.

We should all give props to the flight crew and level headed passengers who according to witness accounts were able to evacuate 309 people in less then two minutes. If not for their quick work this could have been a lot worse.

After watching it on the news last night I think that the workers from the airport, paramedics and toronto police and fire really handled themselves well.
It made me proud to be a part of this city.

+ 100

Although as usual passengers of Air Canada who got stuck in the airport cause of the events were treated like by the airline and received horrendous service...I don't understand how AC can provide such horrible service (no agents, no refunds, no help, rebook ticket yourself...) and still consider itself one of the best...

+1!

In terms of customer service, AC is the biggest pile of that flies the skies. It's as good as 3rd world country airlines.

Some might not agree:

June 2, 2005 - AC ranked Best Airline in North America in international survey of air travellers.

January 2005 - AC awarded "Best Airline in Canada" by U.S. Global Traveler magazine.

April 11, 2003 - AC wins honours for: Best Frequent Flyer Program, Best Airline Website.

April 11, 2003 - AC Shortlisted Among Top Four Airlines Worldwide.

February 2003 - AC receives seven nominations for OAG Airline Of The Year Awards 2003.

That's rediculous...I can't believe it's true...unless other airlines are even wose  :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

I don't know about their service in the air...but when it comes to customer service pre/post flight they are horrendous (and pretty expensive too)...you are pretty much on your own.

I cannot think of even ONE airline in the world that has greater population and coverage challenges than Air Canada.

Think about it: as our national carrier AC is expected to serve a country of 35 million people - spread along a 7200 km long stretch of North America (distance from Victoria to NFLD).

If AC decided to lower prices and personalize services - they would end up dropping 60% of their domestic routes (a la PEI).
