excerpt --- Rice-Boy is a stereotype. The typical Rice-Boy can be identified by his car, or rather what he does to it. Generally, Rice-Boy will start out with a car that was not meant to go fast (typically a Honda Civic), and attempt to "fix it up," usually consisting of aftermarket rims, lowering springs and an aftermarket exhaust system with a large exhaust tip.

Most Rice-Boy cars (or "Rice Rockets") have the usual complement of stickers proudly displaying features that the car might or might not have, most notably, the Honda VTEC sticker from the later model Preludes, and the plaques from the later model Integras.

Rice-Boys do not exclusively drive Japanese cars. There are quite a few fake Mustang '5.0's and Camaro Z28's out there, as well as quite a few strange looking Neons.

its more to it then that aswell. and typically a "civic" does not even remotely apply these days. Maybe 5-7 years ago. There are WAY more riced out focus' and neons these days running around then civics.

Its also attitude and how you look at other makes. RIcers will typically dismiss anything other then what their "favourite " is also commonly known as a fan boy.

As for racing. saying you can beat xy car isnt rice. thats what some do when racing. Now if it was a stock 2.0L jetta, then yeah thats somewhat ricey but if it was a 1.8t or vr6 (modded or not) I see no issues saying he can hang or beat a 5.0L.

My high school's mascot was a mustang...does that count?

rice = making a car look/sound fast when it isn't. It has NOTHING to do with the make/model of the car.

i.e. using non-functional parts that imply performance but provide no gains...like throwing a 3" exhaust on an economy car with no other mods.

the term has been used to also cover cars with stupid style choices like those with a bunch of decals, nozzle lights, uni-wiper, bad tint jobs, coloured lighting, giant aluminum spoilers, expensive oversized wheels on a box, etc. ;)
