Kal aka Frank Kalone is the dj behind famous Central Station club...

He was one of the guys who started the rave scene in Montreal...

He has been mixing for over 19 years now... and produced tracks that were charted by Mauro Carl Cox and other techno superstars...

The guy rocks... listen to his set on www.indamix.ca (Dj Kal)

:D

I should of come here before, so much distracting to read you all guys!!!

First of all, Dj Charlie if you want to initiate your friend to edm you should expose them to a large variety of edm on the same night.

And the best way to do so would be to bring them @ Aria on that night. to be more precise:

-King Louis = funky, disco house (DJ Dan style)

-Kal = house, pumping tech house, tech (a real experience dance floor shaker)

-Nick Pilon = tech trance (will see what you people think within the next year, he definately rocks)

By bringing them to Tiesto base on YOUR musical preference is not exactly the best thing to do, and I'm not judging your musical taste at all here. You want them to experience edm then expose them correctly Tiesto doesn't represente the whole edm scene. If you want them to discover Tiesto do them a favor; buy them his CD, less expensive then a ticket to see him @ Circus and at the end its the same musical experience.

And by the way, if one of those 3 djs playing that night @ Aria would earn 100 000$ minimum/gig would it be different???

I feel here like djs are judge by the money they make and not their talent! cause I know lots of local djs here that have better mixing skills then Mister Dj Superstar Tiesto ( I aint talking about production here but mixing skills)

They don't know much in edm so they trusted my taste

its simple as that

and god knows that Armin always put up a great show no matter what

Tiesto usually sucks in Montreal anyhow.. :p
you should take them to a resident night @ Aria.. you and them will be MUCH better off imo!!

I would totally take Louis's funky house over tiestor.. which is why I won't be back in town for him this year.. last year was enough for me to never want to see Tiesto in Montreal again

True that :D

He was decent in Toronto the last time he was here except for his exit of course but could someone explain and qualify the "Tiesto sucks in montreal" argument. I've heard it over and over again yet fail to see anyone give specifics.

Considering most people on this forum hate Tiesto (well hate is a strong word..more like recognize there is some funky cheese smell emitting from him!) I'd love to have actual people that have seen him play in Montreal provide details.

Thanks!

There's no answer...he was good in montreal, i saw him 10 times in montreal, his sets wasn't the same quality at each time, but it was always a good journey. People who's bashing on him can't accept that Tiesto is so popular, and the will never give you a good argument to proof he was bad. I think that people who's bashing on an artist, is not a real music fan...so if you don't like somebody, just don't by his music, but stop bashing on them...that's a really bad attitude!!

That actually isn't true at all.. Tiesto is in my top 10 dj's dude.. so I don't know where you are going with that one, but I advise you stop with that right there before you dig yourself a hole with "I think that people who's bashing on an artist, is not a real music fan"
Tiesto in Montreal compared to Toronto are 2 different stories.. the quality of his sets are a million times better in Toronto compared to Montreal which is the main reason I refuse to go see him in Montreal. I think he has more energy and excitement in TO as well.
As for the crowd Tully, I don't know which one is better.. it is Tiesto.. so it is overcrowded and uncomfortable in all places you see him play.. you just can't escape that!

Proof that Tiesto is bad in Montreal...3 words: Bal En Blanc.
Sorry but his set was awful.5 years ago I would have defended him, but I think #1 dj got to his head and he simply stopped trying.

ok... LOUIS DON'T TAKE THIS TOO PERSONNAL

I don't listen to Louis house (even if i gave support to his residencies at nightclubs)

I don't listen to Kal's house (in fact i rarely go to central station)

I don't dig Nick's general tracklisting as my personnal taste in trance... and his favorite model dj is PvD...mine is Armin... 2 different kind even if some track ressemblance

and as for those future edm fans... they already have Tiesto's stuff... why you think they wanted to go see him ?

and being a DJ myself... those people are exposed to my stuff and give more appreciation to my kind of trance... plus at the beginning the choice i gave them was Armin.

sorry to bust that topic... but check this out..

what you heard from me at living has NOTHING to do with what i play at aria... im gonna play electro and then techy stuff to open...

Kal doesnt play house AT ALL on fridays... hes gonna play new york / chicago tech

and nick... well too bad if you dont like it... but i think people that dont know about edm wont see the difference

100$ vs 10... think about it

wow... EDM scene has become so depressing.

I remember a time when it was about going out and having fun, meeting people. Partying.

No it's about who's got the biggest dick.

Tiesto is coming to town, and you get 15 pages of arguing, telling how much he sucks, or how this DJ is better....

Same thing in tiesto's topic on my site.

No wonder why people are not smiling anymore.
