Sasha's his real name, he listened to MIKE ever since he started producing day one hehe, so you can see why they probably talked so much, hes basically the #1 MIKE fan, i shoulda stayed in the end :(
we talked for like 1 hour in the back about music and , very knowledgable guy :D btw was he wearing a "Scanner" shirt? (otherwise im just emberacing myself?)

We're awake, and it's smelling like REVIEW TIME!
Last night began as any other, the drive from London to Toronto with Starbucks in tow. A couple wicked M.I.K.E. GDJB sets to get us in the mood and off to Markham we went.
Arrived at the club by around 11:30 with time to chat with Aaron and Tim outside as some other TA's arrived. It was great to chat and get to know some new TA's and new faces before the bass began.
In we went and my Viva virgin experience exploded with a flourish of lights and sound. Actually, to be honest the sound didn't really impress me. Up to the 19+ sectioned off, extremely exclusive, and wonderfully glamorous VIP that was ... well, the bar area near the back. In walked Dennis (might I say I'm still jealous of your awesome U2 review) and we had a quick chat about the club et all.
Tygon hit the decks and OH, there it was, the sound I had been waiting for. The pound, the bass, just great. Tim, your set was awesome. Some of the builds that you threw in there were just fantastic. Mags and Natalia were loving every minute of it as was I. When you dropped "Senorita" I was going ballistic: total CHUNE. Of course I saw Fahad BOUNCING across the floor when "Ridgewalkers - Find" was played... but who wouldn't really, he was just coming to visit all the TA's who were ALREADY front and center!
M.I.K.E. came in with Aaron a few minutes later and set things up. Up he got onto the decks and might I just say, from that moment on, the smile never left my face. Track after brutal pounding track through my ears and my stomach, then out through my feet as I was up and down more than a whore on a Friday night from 2-5.
M.I.K.E. seriously suprised me with how hard he played. I was absolutaly going crazy. I can honestly say I haven't danced that hard, ever before: EVEN to Marco V. So imagine that ;)
The place was great, some nice space to dance but still packed out. I can honestly say I was pleasently surprised with Viva. The light show was AMAZING (Jay, you really know how to work your magic up there, respect). The sketchy asians were as I was told, fine. They kept to themselves, and it was amazing. The TA's that showed up were there having a ball. Dancing front and center all night. Mags and Natalia were pleasently surprised with you guys: "I had no idea they were all TA's... they're always the people who are left with us at the bitter end at every party! I was so glad to finally meet them!"
M.I.K.E. was awesome enough to sign photo's, chat for a bit, take pics, the whole lot. A real standup guy for sure. Great set, great venue, great party... Paradigm, what can I say. Big ups to Aaron, Tim, and ANYONE else affiliated with this rediculous party. Just wonderful.
Mark came on and did his regular popular tunes of the time for the next little while. Sorry man, I just didn't have any left in me and left by about 5:30-6:00am.
Thank you again to everyone. I had a blast. Thank you for popping my Viva cherry with style ;)

Really good night. I enjoyed Mike's set considering probably about 2/3 of it was straight up techno/tech house. In fact at times the guy was sounding like carl cox.
Interestingly enough, most of what MIKE played sounded like a typical viva resident night except on those nights, most of you guys dont come to hear it. |
