The Supersaw Thread

Okay I can see 3 different threads just on the frontpage of this forumsection right now that handles the subject of the supersaw sound in different forms. And if that wasn't enough at least one new thread about the subject pops up everyday and the new guys on the board get's flamed and so on.
So...I thought that a subject that's so discussed deserved it's own thread so we can gather all the info in here instead of spreading it over like 20 threads/week.
So post all your questions, answers and all the info you can come up with that has to do with the supersaw sound
So first off, what is a supersaw, it's basicly 7 detuned saw waveforms. The original supersaw is created with the jp8000 and/or the jp8080 synth created by Roland.
Sound on Sound described the supersaw short but quite clearly in their review of the JP8080...

Can't get clearer than that ;)
To give examples of how the supersaw sounds, just listen to classics like Rank 1 - Airwave or Cygnus X - Superstrings (Rank 1 remix)

ahh I just remembered, for thoose of you using reason I have a combinator preset that I created that you might like if your'e looking for a supersaw sound for reason.

^ hey bag how about writing something more helpful maybe?
No it's not a 3xOSC preset, I did a few quick tweaks (with no fx added btw), and I put it up here so someone may help me on it... is that idea too complicated for you? Because it's hard to get something over your head if it's so far shoved up your ass. |

yeah, lets all produce the same sound all over again, and again, and again, and again again..
pherhaps we could share some already made riffs and bass to go along, and YES, maybe some percussion loops while we are at it..

but still it is the most used sound and everyday a new thread with questions about it pops up, if you doon't want to use the sound then don't. I myself doesn't use it because I think it's way to overused but I still think it's better to gather all info about it in one thread instead of 25...get it?
so please if you don't have anything usefull or constructive to say just keep it to yourself, mkay? :) |
