come on now this thread ain't about weeners n it's about wet, moist, angry, female hurricanes :haha:
soo anyway
yeah Wilma is a confusing hurricane
i go to bed thinking it will go around cuba and miss yukatan, and now it will make landfall in cancun? wtf???
and by the way
Wilma is now a category 4
don't let that fool you
she is expected to go cat 5 again
i'm reading that ground zero for florida is Naples, maybe a bit south... |

very very strange
I've just read that Wilma will probably continue to weaken for the duration of her existance, and it is looking more likely that she Will hit florida as a category 2 or a weak 3
GOOD NEWS FOR FLORIDA!
nothing is written in stone though |

The waters in the north are cooling down in October and November due to seasonal changes. That means that the chances are high that Wilma makes landfall as a weak hurricane (maybe cat. 2 or 1). Do not compare it with Katrina or Rita, Wilma will definitely be weaker although it became the strongest hurricane ever in the warmer waters south of cuba... |

yeah i know i was expecting it to weaken, and that would have been the obvious prediction... but the forecasts yesterday called for a slight weakening and to hit FL as a cat 4
i've been reading some of the predictions by amateurs on another board (one of them correctly predicted where rita was going to strike 3 days before it did) so I'm putting my faith in him... some of the amateurs on that board are better than the pros...
i still have a lot to learn :stongue: this meteorology stuff is pretty interesting... i've always been attracted to it |

She's back to almost a category 5 now
winds: 150MPH (up from 145)
pressure has gone up a bit to 918 from 915....
look for strengthening to continue until landfall in yucatan

UPDATE:
landfall at cozumel island, just off coast of Cancun
wilma will stall for 24+ hours at that location, so they will continually see 150+mph winds during that time. I hope everyone got out from that location. I'd be surprised if I saw any structures left standing after wilma passes...

I believe this is where it made landfall

so sad to see all that gone...
US Landfall is now pushed back even further until monday night looks like cause of the stall, by the way. |

| If it hits Monday morning, that's totally perfect. No work at the beginning of the week. :D |

it's still uncertain though... that's just the best estimate at the moment
it all depends how long she stalls over the yukatan land mass
the longer she stalls, the more she weakens, and florida will be better off
if she does not stall as long, then she will hit water sooner and the weakening will not be as big
so floridians need to pray she stays over yukatan for a long long time
cancun will be wiped out tho... its a shame... |
