just got back from Crown..

a good match played by us.. plenty of opportunities, however Uruguay were definately a bit too skilled for us..

i hate the way they play though..more rolls then a bakers dozen.. they're dirty s.

great job Aussies...

Defence looked very suspicious on corners and set plays :(
I'm sure Guus will be working hard on that in the short time that we have before the next game.

Midfield played very well in the first half and I thought we looked like the better team. Unfortunately, we got done over by crappy defending off Recoba's kick. :wtf:

Also, too many long balls and not enough exploitation of the wings. We need to play more one-twos, short balls and through balls close to the goal IMO, instead of just looping it over the top and looking for a header.

Bresciano looked good when he came on, and should get a full game next time.

There's still hope, but we need to keep them out when they come to Sydney!

i creamed my pants when cullina took the shot in the second half and skimmed the post :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:

very lucky not to concede another in the 2nd half :nervous:

all in all, aussies shouldnt be disheartened by the result, australia held there own, unlucky to concede the goal we did, uruguay only looked threatening at set peices, alvaro recoba has a dynamic left foot absolutely unbelievable, i still think the aussies can get thru, in front of our home crowd, take away there set piece opportunities and i dont really see them as beinga major threat
couple of changes for the next leg

bresciano to start for kewell
timmy cahill to start for archie thompson

Started the match off well...these boys have really improved. Dominated posssesion
and then some in dodgy free kick decision and...well that! :whip:

we need to win by 2 goals...is it just too much to ask?
Paulie
en difference today, was recobas left foot. en deadly...

Last 3rd we struggled...

Spot On AJ couldnt of said it better. Gonna be dangerous with the uruguayans playing counter... en cmon boys!

i reckon the aussies are a huge chance in sydney. for most of the first half bar the last 10 minutes they dominated possession and shots on goal. bloody reycoba did it again, he was persuaded out of international retirement and it has paid dividends if it was not for him uraguay would have had nothing. he was the only one that looked really threatening.

what needs to happen now, is all the australian supporters go out to sydney international airport and give the uraguayians some of their own medicine and hurl abuse at them. also if someone could break reycoba's left foot that would be nice as well.

PUMP UP AUSSIES!!!! I reckon this is a fantastic opportunity to go through. With Cahill playing i reckon we will be a huge chance.

Does anyone know if there is going to be a public screening at Federation Square or something I would love to see it on a big screen and go berserk if Australia wins and goes through. (Definately no work on Thursday if they win, Public Holiday known as Johnny Warren Day)

yeah Cahill has to start for Thompson. Aussies did well, would have been awesome if we scored that crucial away goal, however wasn't to be. Do you guys think that we need a 5 man midfield with Viduka playing as the lone man? or 4 man with Kewell beside him Chipperfield on the left and Emerton on the right?

My fellow Australians

Tomorrow night is the night that decides the fate of our country.

Will a 60K a week lazy has been step up when it counts most?
Will an Indigenous Australian takes us to the 'Dreamtime'?
Will Tony Vidmar's tears be of despair or joy?

"Some people think Football is a matter life or death, I'm very disappointed with that attitude, it is much more important that"
- Bill Shankly

As every single hour counts the fine line between pain, suffering and joy, ecstasy becomes thinner and thinner.

It is just TOO important.
