Thank G-d for small mercies - if he played it, I missed it!I hate that song with passion, having heard it in almost every pvd set for the last 4 or so years.

Yes, the night was definitely different. He did stay on a techie side more, I guess that's NYC feedback for you - they love their hard. I liked it, even tho I'm not big on tech. somehow it worked.

the sound system was kick-ass, don't care what one nimwit says. track selection also was pretty right-on. Pvd can definitely read his crowd. I had a great time but I am paying for it in more than one way now. every single bone in my body hurts - most from dancing, the rest from crashing on the floor when I got home. slept for 10 hours on hardwood floor - now I am like a cripple, can't move.

energy and vibe in the place was fantastic - people were just amazing. I don't care what you say. yes, it was a bit disturbing to see sooooo many half-naked people. what pisses me off is that ladies get hot too, how come none of them take their tops of?? that's just unfair and SEXIST! Ladies, I demand you take matters into your own hands. next time, you're at even like this and you get hot - take your top off and dance half naked. trust me - no one will judge you poorly, even if you got flapjack titties, mosquito bites, or waterbags - we don't care, as long as they are there.

thank you.

im asian and i dont start fights and i was born here. didnt come over in any container ship.
and i also recall big guido looking dudes taking their shirts off too who were fat and nasty pushin poeple aside like they owned the place.

but either way i know what u trying to say. just could have put it another way. i dont appreciate the fobs there ruining my vibe but the behavior isnt limited to them.

Hm. sorry, I'm just a bit ticked off... hate the feeling of sweaty slimy body of someone I don't know being smothered all over me. I didn't see nearly as many meatheads halfnaked as I saw asians - hence my generalization. sorry.

i wont really go on and on about how i wasnt feeling his set friday since 98% of everyone in this thread here loved what he played. all i know is that from the first time i saw pvd at factory in march of 02 till his summerstage gig of 04 i enjoyed all of his shows he put on....i dont know what has happened with his style.

listen to the recording of the nov roxy gig in 03 (which was floating around for a while) and compare it to the other night and it just isnt even close. with the exception of from 4-6 am that night in 03, the other 4 hours were fierce intense melodic speedy trance. i just dont get into what he is doing these days. thankfully armin has compensated for that with his shows this year in nyc.

so while i am happy that almost all of you enjoyed his set friday i cant agree with the notion that it wa his best set of all time around these parts. bring back the 02-03 pvd....please.

um... there's more to djing than playing one melodic trance track after another. i really appreciate the fact that pvd switches up styles so much. i mean, even armin recently has been trying to bring in some variety to his sets. if you ever listen to any pvd interview or read his conversations he always stresses that he is an "EDM" dj, not a trance dj, because he never simply spins just trance. thats just not his style.

yah i hear that it's a few asian gangs that fight each other in the clubs.. always the same people.. the same ones that brought knives to pvd on new years eve. but that's just what i heard.. note: not a generalization

No worries man, ther will be more, especially if you're in NYC...from what I've seen you guys get djs like mad, they have RESIDENCIES. :P
Viva NYC.:D
*~LiSa-LoO~*
I started with a 4 hour train ride to Toronto...then hopped on a 45min bus ride back to Hamilton (after Josh picked me up from the train station and we met with Spitty and Chris). Laura picked us up from the bus station and we began our trek to New York at about 1:15 in the morning. Got there around 9:30 - thanks everyone that gave us directions!

We got to Fran's, and unloaded our bags. He had some work to do, so we decided to go exploring. We walked like 50 miles or something...but it didn't actually seem that long. We saw a bunch of sights...took tons of pictures - which will all be up soon! And just had a great time exploring the city.

Afterwards we relaxed for a bit, before it was time to start the partying! Yankeebaby met up with us (great to see you again baby!), as well as Your Mother (who is actually a native of Windsor!) and his gf. We headed over to Roxy, and after a bit of confusion with the tickets we managed to get in alright.

The club itself was awesome. It was pretty big and had a really nice set up. I also liked how you could be like 10 feet away from the DJ...if that! There were 3 big video screens on each side of the booth, and if you wanted to hang out behind them and dance you literally could just walk up and shake the DJs hand. Not to mention, there was so much room all around the front! Nada you would have been SO happy! Okay...well maybe not RIGHT in the front. But from where I was dancing all night, I was pretty close, and I didn't have too many problems with people getting in my way.

As for tunes...many of them have already been mentioned. Lyteo & Summer dream were definatly two of my favorites. Say Hello - I told Laura she had to take a video of me and Spitty dancing for you Nada. She told me that he probably wouldn't play it...and sure enough he did! I think he did it purposely for you I can't wait to show you the video. And yes, as Kelly said...we represented you quite well...a lot of "this is for Nada"'s!

One thing I didn't like though...Josh and I recall there being a couple weak spots in his set. For the most part it was great, but there were two times where we just looked at each other and were like "c'mon paul...pick it up a bit" and sure enough he did and we danced away saying "now THAT'S more like it! That's the paul I've come to know and love!"

It was great to meet a lot of you NYC TAs...dirtydave (we had a nice talk about how awesome the edm scene was haha), photoaddict, your mother, pvdobsession, verndog, colibri, avikonen (of course)...and I'm sure there were others! Hope to see some of you guys soon!

Thanks again to Fran for his genourous hospitality...to Laura for making me go and spotting me all that money...and to all the TAs for making it an awesome trip! One of the best decisions I've ever made!

P.S. Pics and vids soon

P.P.S. I introduced a lot of you to my friend Kelly (not Yankeebaby). She's from Windsor, but has recently moved to New York for school. I helped get her into the EDM scene right before she moved, and she's been trying to get into it more in New York. I hope you guys take good care of her. There's a Welcome thread for her in the TOTA boards. Her nick is KellyBelly!
