I remember him teasing w the vocals for Marco V - More than a Life Away and mentioning it to this hottie I ended up talking to, was funny.:)

Same here man. SF was first time I saw him live as well back in 2002 when he even started playing the synths live on the keyboard(another way i think). Personally, I dont wanna rain on anybody's parade, but its just not the same for me. He pretty much went downhill since his Summerstage 04 set and his after party at Spirit. Ikon was garbage, Roxy was very ehhh the whole nite, Summerstage 05 was just wack after the first hour when it sort of looked like it could have peaked and blown up huge. Most ppl I talk about say his gig at Roxy this time was sick and great, but Im sure if I was there, it wouldnt have been anywhere close to being at the same level I have seen him play before. Again, I cant judge cause i missed out this time, but my guess is if I had gone, it wouldnt have been bad, but not as great as all the other times. I feel what u mean about the level of play though. For me, true PVD is not necessarily hard PVD, but a PVD that can PEAK. Last few times just havent done that, even if he played harder than usual. Just my .02.

i am just glad that i am not the only one who feels this way. random people i talked to on friday felt the same way as well. i left feeling the same way i did after the last 2 ferry gigs i had went to (avalon fall of 04 and crobar summer 05). everyone in those threads went on and on about how they loved those shows and i was left thinking: "was i just not hearing what everyone else was?". it's ok though cause like i said i managed to catch a bunch of other acts besides the big 4 this year (pvd, tiesto, armin, ferry).

im sure at some point in the future the sound i want to hear will evolve back into what pvd, tiesto, and ferry will be playing in the majority of their sets. i am looking forward to armin when he comes back soon hopefully. and i was convinced into going to tiesto the saturday after thanksgiving. i just have to go into that show not expecting anything in particular so that i wont be disappointed in what i hear.

i think its funny though how the upcomming show and review threads explode months before every pvd show and then die down until the next one is announced. then again its always been that way for as long as i have been reading and surfing this forum.

Just arrived back home in England, what a superb little Big Apple break that was!

Thoroughly enjoyed PvDs set, even though it wasn't one of his more inspirational 6 hour monster mixes.

I could be wrong, but there seemed to be an hour towards the end of the night where he wasn't even playing songs, just making stuff up on Ableton. I spent most of the night right behind the screens and we were no more than three feet away from him. Pretty interesting turn DJ'ing has taken in just a year.

Good point. I thoroughly enjoyed the night, but there wasn't really a peak that I could feel the whole crowd experiencing.

I personally had a moment that I might consider the peak of the night for myself, but if I put myself in the crowd's place, I don't feel like there was really that moment.

That feeling is so amazing and so ecstatic that when it happens, there's no denying that there was a peak. And the memories keep coming back to that moment, especially the memories of the vibe or of the crowd - when I think about the vibe afterwards, it's always that peak moment that I remember. And it's fifty times a better feeling for the deejay than for the crowd.

I just went insane when pvd dropped sebastian ingrosso & steve angello - yeah

whiteroom - someday being one of my favorite all time tracks was great to experience in that crowd and with pvd 3 feet in front of me, but i don't like the dub version with the half-assed breakbeats in the hands up section. I much prefer the instrumental mix. but it didn't stop me from losing my mind when the bass drops after the sound gets sucked out right after the buildup. I hit the ground and jumped probably 3 linear feet in the air before landing on some poor girl's feet when that happened.

yeah and for those of you who might be wondering who were also in the very front, i was a 6'5" dude wearing an italia football jersey. was great to party with you all even if I didn't know who the hell you were.

i can remember a few examples of these...when pvd dropped:

another way in nov 03 at roxy when the bright ass spotlights went on and the place was a light as day...
sun decade - im alone (ronski speed mix) nov 02 at roxy
the mix that sounds like new order - confusion at roxy in nov 03
cosmican - spirits in nov 03 as well

some other moments like this:

when tiesto dropped traffic at crobar in june...
when tiesto dropped southern sun at roxy in may of 03
when armin dropped blank and jones - perfect silence at spirit in june

i think the only moment that i can think of really that comes close to this was when crush was played last friday. moments where long buildups happen and old favorites are played, and the crowd puts its hands up in the air...screams really loud and goes nuts. i just havent seen that much lately at pvd's shows.

to me moments like this is what makes trance special and seeing these big name dj's worth it. maybe i was spoiled by the shows i saw the first couple of years when i was goign out to see these dj's, but that's what i like. intense energy and a great crowd reaction.

Wait, so the peaks are always big commercial tracks that everyone knows, because that's what you just listed?

Did who meet me?? :)
Yeah, we met. I came over and asked Lisa if she got the set that she asked me for and she introduced me to you. We didn't get to talk long because my girlfriend keeps me on a short leash, so I had to go running back. :(

Ahh yes...you were the one I put in my report..I said something like.."and I met this other TA who was really sweet and he said I should come out to more TA/trance parties, but he had to go back to his girlfriend." LOL Glad to put a name with the face LOL

:haha: :haha:

madhattared

I think Armin can def. keep the momentum up and rock it out. Ive been listening to his new stuff and quite honestly, it seems banging. I wouldnt be surprised if he went nuts this year and killed it on his tours. New armin = maybe close to the old pvd ? I guess we will have to wait and see next time he is here.
