u cant really scratch trance...and most of the ppl in my school r hip hop and rap type....although thre r a few who listen to euro dance but thats too cheesy. And im not gonna waste money to buy hip hip and rap records when i dont even like what im playin just to make the audience smile. And whats wrong with playin in a talent show...half the ppl who r thre just sing or play guitar and ...whats the difference....its all music (doesnt matter how the music comes out...whether thru a guitar or vocal or turntable) Theyll b sittin down and will most likely want smthng with a nice melody...not jump around like maniacs to some hardcore .
Thats why i wanna play smthng like Ferry corsten - sublime (thrillseekers remix) or chicane - dont give up ..smthng along that line NOT smthng like Kyau vs albert - Made of sun (kva hard dub)
anyways...its my last year and i just wanna show ppl what trance is since most of em judge it in a wrong way...:rolleyes: |

That's all fine and good man, but you have to understand the expectations associated with what you're doing, your average HS student isn't going to understand what "mixing" is, and may very well think you're doing nothing unless you're beat juggling or scratching, it's just the nature of it... If you're going to go ahead and do it, great, but understand that people aren't going to "get it" in the same way that people "get" someone playing the guitar or singing... People don't appreciate what they don't understand... |

I just had a gig at my school last night. We actually convinced the student council to let me spin 2 hours of trance. The kids loved it, and by the end were chanting my name. Pretty cool.
As for the talent show if you really want to mix, dont play long tracks. Try to play something short, or just mix them quickly so that the crowd doesnt get bored. |

| ya thas exactly what i was plannin to do...like u know some records r a bit repetitive but u can cut them off with another record midpoint. usually u can do that with prog house tracks......im not gonna play like a 9 min song and then mix a 10 min song and stuff...thas gonna b too borin to watch plus ill feel stupid just standin thre durin the song.....so i just wanna do like a 20 min performance mayb.....start off with some trance beats and a bit of vocal so their minds r more focused on what the vocals r rather than just listenin to instruments and seeing me turn knobs and stuff...and then pop in a little prog in the second song and quickly cuttin it off at bout 4 min mark with a nice ending...prbly smthng with a good melody like Paul van dyk - reflections.... |

lol its funny u mention it....cuz one of my freind said he would do the same thing if he had the chance to dj....just pretend like ur rippin ur arms off spinnin the record while actually the music is not even comin from the tables but from a cd player somwhre under the table hidden with a piece of cloth ;)
That is a pretty awsome idea if i wanna get the attention of the girls...hehe...ill keep that in mind...:stongue: |

| WOW, you must have a lot of balls, if i were to have done something like that in school, i would have gottin laughed at....only thing that most people understand about djing is sratching....after something like this you maybe known as the school e-head, people will deffinatly think your on crack....people thought i was a tweeker at my school for listing to trance....so be carefull of what you do |
