Gig in school comin up!

Sup trancers!
I got a gig comin up in school on december for a talent show. I started djin just a few months ago and i figured out beatmatchin...just a little off sometimes but still workin on it....i could use the eq fairly well. If any of u hav any pointers on how to make the mix near perfect....PLZ PLZ PLZ dont hesitate to post a reply.
Now...since its a talent show...i cant hog a whole 1 hr to mix....so theyll prbly let me play like 3 records or 4 max. Let's stick to 3 for now. The tracks i hav in mind are....
Airwave - Theft of the spirit or Airwave - Seattle calling
Tiesto - UR (junkie xl remix)
Faithless - Bring my family back (pvd mix)
Chicane - Don't give up (original)
Paul van dyk - The other side (original)
So far i selected....Bring my family back then Seattle calling (slow and proggy) and then UR to finish it off
Keep in mind...im playin for a school thats full of rap and hip hop fans and half of the school prbly doesnt even know that trance exists!
I dont wanna play rap of hip hop since i wont like what i mix and if i dont like what i mix..ill screw up for sure...plus i havnt practiced scratchin and what not...anyways...lets take out rap outta this thread

| true most dont know trance exists because all they know is darude. i showed my productions and mixes to people and they never knew such musci existed and they were hooked. play some POWERFUL stuff..massive basses, deep . |

dude,
ppl can't spot a good DJ, unless their into the music...
the only way to impress ppl in a short amount of space, is to scratch and do other random .
unless u point out WHY it's special to be able to mix trance/proggy (ie. u don't even notice change in tracks etc.), ppl can't appreciate ur art. |

thats what i was thinking.. hehe.
i suggest don't do it. the audience will get VERY bored, VERY quickly.
if you're gonna do anything for a talent show that has to do with DJing, i suggest learning to scratch and juggle and .. do a wicked 5 minute turntablism set next year or something. |
