I think there are a few elements to look at for a night.
1) Music itself
2) Interaction of the dj and how involved
3) The Night itself, ie venue and how busy it is
4) the time of the night and
5) the people around you and your past experience
I saw PVD 2 summers ago, he sat there, and mixed, looked down at the decks, back to his vinyl and mixed.....not into it at all. but thats him.
As for Piet, he was into it, but it REALLY only showed if your in the booth.
Now for me, for those that saw me at viva, maybe i was a little TOO into it. but hey, the music does it for ya.
Overall, VERY important in my opinion for OPINION of the dj, NOT for the music itself. but every little bit helps

yeah.. they dont have to do it.. but if they do it.. there is nothing wrong with that.. as long as they are still holding on to a sweet set..who cares..
but honestly.. i do look forward to see carl cox intearcting with the crowd.. it just wudnt be a carl cox night without his "are you readyy!!"! |

its all about fun, people!!! |
take your own advice and realize everyone has their own definition of fun. Realize that some enjoy the interaction(if there is any) from the Dj even if you think its stupid. Some enjoy it and feels it adds to the night.. afterall its all about fun, people!!! |

But rock concert mentality belongs at a rock concert. If im there for the music and everyone is in worship mode it takes away from the fun. |

looking to the dj for some interaction doesnt necessarly mean worship mode is in full effect.
Even if something that extreme is happening around you(Id say something like that is rare) , then just ignore it and have your fun. The music is loud enough ;)
I also think that 99.98% of the people on this board arent teenie bopper , girl screaming omgwtfbbq headoverheals eye humping the dj kind! So they look at them for some interaction. big deal. They are having fun, just what you said its about.
If your idea of fun is stairing at the wall and busting a move, then enjoy it, but dont hate people who look up at the dj every so often hoping to see a fist in the air or some moves. There is a difference between that kind of interaction(which most are talking about here) and the omg britney spears , nsync bull. |

its not a big deal if it happens. What upsets most people who speak out about are the people who slam djs because "there is no interaction so its boring"
Hey if the dj wants to dance around (as long as its not affecting the music) then go for it. But it shouldnt be something to base the guy on.
How many girlies go to armin not so much for the music but because "maybe he will smile at me! OMG!"
This is what i cant stand |

neither can i.. and not only girls.. i've seen guys doing/saying the same ..
but as she said before.. each to their own.. if someone people like that.. nothing wrong.. we all like different things in life.. i guess that is what makes us unique..
some people enjoy it.. some people dont ;).. |

i don't need a dj to "look at me" or do the jesus pose, but i think its important for a dj to be having a good time..smiling..dancing whatever..as long as i can see s/he enjoys their own set
whats that saying..a dj that doesn't dance is like a writer that doesn't read |
