what about when the ER is closed altogether?
I support ER user fees for non essential visits for this very reason BTW.
$25 per sniffling nose. |

Wheres the logic in that.
Firstly I dont agree with you with the quality of our medical staff. When that idiot doctor was popping my finger back in, he gave me a hairline fracture.
But thats not even that important.
Ive spent my fair share of time at the hospital for one reason or another. But one thing remained the same was that the circumstances as to why I was there were always at the extremest. Nevertheless Ive never had to wait less than three hours. Meanwhile every time I come there, no matter how many people, twenty or three. The staff there is always strolling around, chatting between themselves and being completely and utterly relaxed and not bothered by the fact that they are actually working. I could understand if they were working construction; a brick now or a brick later, is still a brick at the end of the day. But when a person is in pain, do your fu(king job and assist that person with a sense of urgency.
Canadian Health Care system is sh!t. No matter how many times you say your number one, it doesn't make it any more true. Just because its "free" (yeah righhhhhhttt) doesn't make it GOOD. |

I'm for a "speed bump" fee of 10$ per visit.
will discourage those seeking 5th or 6th opinion on a running nose :p |

yes...
at least they will try to fix the system rather than just throw more money at an already broken system. |

I'm going to have to agree that the hospital was not the appropriate place to go. In fact, that's really a perfect example of the problem with "free" health care and why our system is such a mess - people would not go for minor injuries if they had to pay $1000 for every visit (or have their insurance premiums raised next year for too many visits).

I agree with that much,
I worked in a clinic before and it's just sad to see how many people abuse the whole system, they come in for the slightest things, complain about wait time (although it wasn't more than an hour) it's just ridiculous. However, the least they could have done is get you some wrap for your wound, apply some pressure with it as opposed to your shirt. Some people react differently to injuries as opposed to others (dizzyness), it's not fair to call anyone names because of it. |

Weren't they the ones who broke the system to begin with?
Nevermind, time for me to learn some Canadian politics. |

No.. the liberals (paul martin and chretien) cut funding in the 90s by 50% overall i believe the figure is, leaving it to the provinces to make up the shortfall.
How do u think martin balanced his budgets? |
