Its not that bad actually. You get placed in order of severity. and if people come in, in need of attention more then you, they go ahead.
plan and simple. I cut myself badly once too..and i waited for a few hours. Same when I broke my nose.
my dad was having a heart attack (mild but still) and was seen right away (and it was VERY busy that night). After having an angiogram(on a later date), the cut he had down near his bladder opened up(and being on blood thinners at that point), we went to a different hospital(since thats where he ended up having that procedure) and was seen right away. WHY? cause a bleeding artery is somewhat important ;) all the while people with smaller cuts , feeling sick etc who were there before us, had to wait. Why cause their situation wasnt as severe.
Not to mention sometimes they are short staffed(or have worked very long hours), so it may take longer then usual. Its not that bad really. If you need care you get it.
I certainley dont wanna pay insurance like in the us. ick. talk about expensive (there system is worse then ours unless you are super loaded).
Health care might not be in the bestest of shape, but its not horrible. NDP would spend us into a cardboard box and the Conservatives would hardly do anything to improve it either. |

will discourage those seeking 5th or 6th opinion on a running nose :p |
That would cost more money to administer than it would to not collect $10. I think ER visits should be upwards of $300-$500. If you really need, you can pony it up (always room for exceptions as well). Having everything 'free' only leads to abuse. |

But I thought Canada had The best health care system in the world!!!???
Anybody who really thinks that government-controlled health care is better than a private or two-tiered system has obviously never been to a Canadian hospital. |
ive said that several times. if u have insurance here, u get attended to instantly as well so it really makes no difference with this great OHIP that takes our money
my dad had gone to the ER once cos he was having heart problems...got attended to 9 hours later
last year i sliced my finger open...my dad goes "wanna go to the ER??" im like " that" we went to a medical centre, the doc drops all the other patients and attends to me, sticthes it up and everything...that was a good decision on my part..cant imagine going to the ER |

the health care system is like Kinkos...
u go there and ask them to make copies, they tell u to do it urself on the machines around or wait 20-40 hours if u give it to them....
meanwhile, they stand around doing nothing (literally) |

I can't believe this man, you're way off dude, hospitals aren't kinkos, doctors and nurses get their ass kicked daily, a 12-16 hours shift for a nurse isn't unheard of.
Doctors have to do 24h shifts, and once at the end, they come up emergencies that can take another 5 to 12 hours. Doing a 70hours shift is very usual for doctors in hospitals.
have some respect man for these people. |

| you should take your to the politicians who decided to force the retirment of thousands of doctors and nurses in the 90s... and are giving a hard time to newcomers already formed in the feild. |

i know how many hours the doctors and nurses work but yea as u said in the next post, they SHOULD allow doctors and other people in the medical field that migrate here to practice without having to go thru 8 more years of school to be allowed to. by this, there would be more doctors available to work in the ER and cmon..all humans have the same anatomy so its not like practicing over here would be different..same medication/treatment options |

stephen harper has said repeatedly that hed make it easier for foreign trained doctors to get canadian certified.
Liberals havnt done anything to deal with this problem. |
