First of all...A diesel VW is by far the best band for the buck...
1000 kms to a tank...But pricey at first...
You really should consider a 2006 Civic...
It's a great looking car...great quality car...And cheap as hell for what you get...It's 23,380 fully loaded for the sedan...
And big MO drives one so you can be supa dupa cool...lol |

You're the exception.
For the past 6 years in a row, the Jetta, Golf, and Beetle have been the absolute bottom 3 vehicles on multiple automotive publications' lists for LEAST reliable. BOTTOM 3. Designed in Germany, built in Mexico :)

VW itself (one the big shots there, anyway) freely admitted that the mkIV models had major issues and that the latest MKV models would address them.
When one the head engineers/design guys of the automakers makes that kind of admission...that should tell you something! |

Too bad the MkV products are still going to be phenomenally overpriced for what they are. |

I've got a Corolla. Every day I wish it had more power, but it's never fouled up on me and I like it way better than a Civic.
Nat, Consumer Reports publishes an issue each year on cars - you should pick that up, that's how I decided on mine originally.
And as for snow, there is no substitute for snow tires no matter what car you have and what all-season tires you get; and conversely, once you get snow tires, it won't matter much in terms of winter safety which car you drive. |
