Just to add a slight logical point here...
Cartoons of this sort are done of ALL religions.. I'm sure anti-Semitic and anti-Christian ones are done all over the place too... However, I don't see any riots over those... If you are to protest over that cartoon, you better damn well be protesting over EVERY religion-related cartoon of its nature, or else you have no reasonable argument other than "I don't like what you said about my religion..."
Freedom of speech applies to expression about ALL religions, not just those other than Islam...
And I agreed with most of what Epicurius said... The country is really not responsible for free-speech of its citizens... Not to mention that an apology was given and that should have been more than enough to quell bitter riots... It's a FREAKING CARTOON SHOWING SOMEONE's OPINION! It's not like someone denouncing an attempt to eradicate Jews in WW2... but apparently having a conference of that sort is not abuse of free speech but a cartoon is... :rolleyes:

Well the cartoons dipicted islam as a violent religion and to prove everyone wrong they decide to go burn down embassies, shoot guns, etc etc
Yes I know Islam aint violent but some people using it to attain their goals,etc.
Also to the person that said that they want to be seperated completely from the west, well the extremists want exactly that, because they say we corrupt them.
Oh and europeans have been keeping with the calm attitude until now of just saying "yes they are out of control and violent but were better off not doing anything or it will get worse". But at some point everyone will have had enough. |
