MOFO I was waiting for the honourable Cale :( it was only because I respect you that much :(

P.S. You won't believe how much my eyes lit up when I saw your name on this thread in the main page. I felt so ghey for a moment.
P.P.S. Although I write about you so passionately on TA, why is it we're always so cool and masculine in person? I should express my emotions in person a little more...

Only cuz I like steam rice.
I dunno what your store carry, but look for round white rice.

As for mixing veggies and meat, are you talking about cooking rice and mixing or separate stir fry?

k...i can get the round .

and really, i'm talking about either - cooking & mixing, or stir-fry.

remember, you cats came off the boat, or your parents did. i'm 5th ing generation. when your fam is 5th generation, it will probably be mixed with 12 nationalities, so understand that you're gold to me. :D

bobby - thanks bro!

tara - hi!

some of you brown guys, i'm really interested to see what you guys do with rice. do you make it curry style? i've eaten at the mid-eastern joint on yonge (just south of bloor on the east side), and that's all i've had except for different indian restaurants in various cities, and i've never had rice in either.

do you just make rice, possibly with curry seasoning, and mix it with veggies or meats? or do you do any sort of stir-fry?

i know this is a vague question since there are so many ethnic cuisines...

Dude, you need to go to a store like "Zabeeha Meats" at McCowan and Sheppard or "Nasser Foods" at Lawrence and Warden or this place near Don Mills and Eglinton (can't remember the Muslim name--it's a fairly big place near the Burger King across from some big plaza) and get this BIRYANI mix to mix in with rice (the instructions are right on it).

With the mix and rice, throw in some pre-cooked chicken (the way the Orko mentioned it earlier; slightly seasoned) and you've got yourself the most kick-ass rice dish in the South Asian region: BIRYANI.

As for stir fry, just take the fried rice recipe i just posted:
- serve veggie/meat mixture over plain rice, boom, stir fry :)

here is my standard curry recipe:
Ingredients:
- oil
- onion
- garlic paste(tea spoon)
- ginger paste(tea spoon)
- tomatoes
- chilli powder
- coriander powder
- cumin powder
- turmiric powder
- chillies
- gharam masala
- zheera(cumin seed)
- water
- potatoes
- chicken (2 pounds, dark meat)
(about 1.5 spoons for each spice)

Directions:
- Fry onions in oil and zheera
- toss in cicken, tomatoes, garlic paste, ginger paste, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, chillies, fry till chicken is partially cooked
- add potatoes, and fill with water until all items are just submerged, let cook until desired thickness
- put in gharam masala 10 min before end of cooking

serve over rice.
